Let's begin.... This guide is intended for PvM strictly. I've never been much of a dueler, and i wouldn't even know where to begin to write a PvP guide. Also this guide is intended only for the super ultra uber rich.

Stats

Str-- about 100... i don't have the willpower to investigate... enough for your equipment. Keep in mind that you should have a torch and an anni.
Dex-- enough for max block.... like i said, i dunno how much you'll need. Max block is necessary however, because you'll be meleeing with your army.... you are the general.
Vit-- everything you've got.
Eng-- I recommend 0, but you could throw 10 or 15 in there.

Skills

20 skeleton
20 skelly mage
20 skelly mastery
20 revive
1 clay golem
1 golem mastery
1 summon resist
1 amp damage
... use the rest for whatever you want. I'd like more curses, like decrep. You could also make your golem sweeter. Its up to you, and its not that crucial.

Equipment

Weapon-- Beast. The only way to fly for 2 reasons. 1: It gives a level 9 fanatacism aura. This will boost your damage, your party damage, and will give your minions increased attack speed. Secondly.... it gives you the ability to turn into a HUGE BEAR. What a perfect way to kick the crap out of everything.
Helm-- I chose a shako. It gives skills, damage reduction, life, and mana. Add an um rune, and it's the total package.
Armor-- Enigma. It really helps to tele. Plus it gives you damage reduction and plus skills.
Glove-- I think dracs would be a great choice for this build. The chance for life tap will definetely keep you alive longer. You could choose a number of different gloves though... forsties if you need mana for your summons... or some rares with leech and ias mods.
Shield-- I chose a boneflame. +3 skill, and 30 resist. You could go down any other road though.
Belt-- i think an arach is key here, for the plus skill. You could also pick a verdungoes for damage reduction.
Boots-- marrowwalks.... skelly mastery. Need i say more?
Ring-- bk ring for plus skill and leech
Ring-- either another bk or a soj for more mana.... its up to you
Ammy-- maras is the ultimate here. plus skill and resist.

You'll also need a merc for this. I would choose a might merc, because might will add quite a bit of damage to your army. You could pick a holy freeze merc as well.... because they slow everything down. Holy freeze is my favorite merc all around, but for this build might is a better choice, imo.

Merc Equipment

Helm-- Eth vamp gaze for damage reduction, or veil of steel for resists, or dream for holy shock. Personally id pick the veil of steel. You could also choose Tal Helm for 10 dual leech.
Armor-- Bramble. Bramble gives 15-21 thorns aura... 1000% damage returned. That will help highly with your revives, which are basically just shields usually.
Polearm-- Pride polearm. Adds 16-20 concentration. that equates to 300-345% damage.

Let's talk about battling. With this equipment... you have +12 skill. That gives you level 32 skelly.... 12 skeletons. This doesnt include a torch or an anni, or any gcs. I forgot to factor those in when i was doing the math, and im too lazy to do it again.
I think your damage should easily reach the 4k+ range, with your merc doing more than that even. Your skeletons at level 32, with 32 skelly mastery do base damage 360-363. I'm going to assume perfect stats on all runewords.. for the sake of greatness. Factor to the base damage of 360-363 200% from might, 93% from fanat, and 345%from conc. The total percentage equaling 637%. Multplied out, that 2293-2312 damage per hit, per skelly. I'd say that's impressive.

If anyone has any improvements on this build, or suggestions for different armor, feel free. What I don't want is to get flamed for missing something. Be nice please, I'm new to diis. I'm not new to diablo though. I know my stuff. Enjoy the build, and i hope you try it out.

only thing i disagree with is the fact that you are saying that you fight along with the skellys...i like to sit back and let them do their thing

also i would request/suggest a poor persons version of this guide

Draculs is sorta unnecessary, after all you are a Necro. Just get the skill yourself to save you from having to run up there and smack people.

heh.... i totally didnt even realize i was a necro. thanks fuggle.

instead of dracs then, i'd probably go with something that adds IAS.... maybe a rare with resist mods. I dunno, any suggestions?

and bloodangel... wouldnt fighting alongside your minions just make your necro thaty much more fun? i think you could cll him the general or something. I think that'd be totally sweet. I personally find it a bit boring to just stand back and watch everyone else get the kills.

i've made summoner's with the name general hehe.

yea it might be sweet until you get to a high lvl and die on HC. the reason i like summoners so much is that i play HC and its usually pretty safe hiding behind 10+ skellys

i most definetely dont have the stomach to play HC. I'm not that much of a man. Hats off to you... and ill get workin on a poor version of the build. This was somethin a threw together in Java class tonight while we were learning conditional statements.

I already have this build, so I could make some suggestions...

1)Use the Homonculus as a shield:
a) +2 skills, +2 curses
b) even more importantly, it has the best block rate of all necro shields, so You can cut down heavily on DEX.
2) I'd use Fire Golem instead of Clay. It also adds the Holy Fire aura, meaning that Your skeletons do a little bit more damage (it really isn't much, but doesn't hurt either).
3) 1 point in Corpse Explosion. A 1 point wonder.
4) No need to max out revive. 1 point in enough. With this build, skeletons are the key. With ~+12 skills, You get 13 revives anyway, which is more than enough. Also, You miss out on the fun of blowing up corpses.
5) 1 point in Bone Armor, a 1 point wonder
6) I wouldn't recommend Decrepify. First of all, +skills only add to area size, meaning that all of Your +skills equipment is pretty much useless. I would recommend Amplify Damage all the way, but if You're poor, go for
7) Iron Maiden, 1 point, as a backup.
8) Alternative armor - CoH. You lose out on the teleport, but You get a massive bonus to resists (especially when doing bosses), which is vital if You wanna do damage Yourself.
9) Alternative ring - Raven Frost, even more DEX, Cannot Be Frozen, some damage. Use BK or SoJ if You are 1 point short of getting another Skeleton, otherwise I would go for this.
10) Alternative weapon -
a) Baranar's Star if You're poor. Drawback, no aura (no bonus to skellies) and has a high STR req.
b) Lawbringer/Azurewrath - Both are great weapons, especially because of the aura. Careful! Lawbringer has the "Slain Monsters Rest In Peace" mod, which is a pain in the @$$. It doesn't apply to Your skellies though, so just stop killing whenever You lose one. Azurewrath would be the better choice of the two.
11) and perhaps the most important. Since this necro is going to be doing melee damage himself, he needs a massive bonus to AR, because otherwise You're just not going to hit anything. In order to get this extra AR, put a few points into Poison Dagger. This is a bug in the game (still unfixed), meaning that if You're using another weapon, which isn't of the dagger class, You don't get the added poison damage, but You still get the massive AR boost. More points saved in DEX. (Move Your mouse cursor over the "Chance To Hit" box to see Your correct chance to hit.)

I hope that these help...

2) I'd use Fire Golem instead of Clay. It also adds the Holy Fire aura, meaning that Your skeletons do a little bit more damage (it really isn't much, but doesn't hurt either).

holy fire does not add damage to anyone but the thing that has it. same with holy shock and freeze. to prove i am correct, go to a game with a char with a holy freeze merc (if you have one) and take note of your melee damage. then walk around letting your merc kill stuff until his aura activates. you will notice that his damage will increase but yours will not

note, i still personally recommend fire golem over clay, but not because of the aura. because of the fact that they have more life, do more damage, and they explode when they are 'born' and when they die

I thought damage auras didn't stack.

Bloodangel26

they do stack but they dont work for anyone or anything except the thing or person that has them
