Hussein executed, Iraqi TV stations report - CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/12/29/hussein/index.html)
As you can see in the link above, Saddam Hussein has been executed via hanging in Iraq on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at around 6am, which is the equivalent of about 10pm tonight (Friday) on the East Coast of the US.
Also hung were Hussein's half-brother Barzan Hassan, and the former chief justice of the Revolutionary Court, Awad Bandar.

Seems like a huge event, but it's not. Nothing going to change because of this. People will still kill and be killed in Iraq, and it seems no amount of deaths is going to change that at the moment. We didn't have a right to invade Iraq in the first place. We said we were trying to find WMDs but they just wanted him dead since Bush senior didn't get him. Don't get my wrong, I do not support Saddam, but Its not like Bush is much better by killing hundreds in a war which no side is winning.

Yah i personally think it was unjust as the main people he murdered were the ones who tried to kill him. The world's going to go into that chaos state for a couple of months so dont start yelling Saddam's dead around your neighborhood or you may be shot.

You were aware I take it of the thousands of mass graves that were uncovered?
Fully 60% of these were women and children bound and shot. The weapons of mass destruction were not nuclear..yet...and the biological was under developement.
His most effective weapons aside from sheer terroism and plotting against other countries was gas warfare.
He wiped many villages off the map with gas weapons...thousands are still being dug up and trying to be identified.
I would call this *Mass Destruction*
Personally I am glad we went in and the slimey evil excuse for a human being is dead.

I think it's bullshit. Same old "fight fire with fire" principle. If you want to show that you're doing justice, prepare to make more moral decisions. You call him inhuman for executing lots of people and then execute him for that. Don't people ever learn? Certainly, for the status quo in Iraq, this was a hindering decision. They should have let him live, just stick him in the deepest of your underground prisons and he'll never get out. Sheesh.

There would've been critic's no matter what happened. It was a no win situation.
On a different token is your statement due to your dislike of the death penalty or because you think the war in Iraq is wrong? Just curious.

The execution of Saddam video is already on the interweb, if any of you are curious. :O
Ive seen the video but its choppy and poorly taped... Also im kinda opposed to the death penalty cause i think its just an easy way out. but once again this wasnt the united states Call. we handed him over to iraq so they could dispose of him as they saw fit.

I do dislike the death penalty. Not that I care about human lives, I just find the concept of it unfair.
I won't comment on the war in Iraq, it will just turn into a pointless flame :P

I think he should have been killed, after all the innocent people he has killed. The thing that I dont get, is killing him didnt do anything. There are lots and lots of more terrorists out there.

Just think through that statement. This "Eye for an eye" shit does not suit modern standards of morals. I think that the U.S. are horribly backward with their death penalties, as are all other countries that tolerate that.

Its a good way to save money. Have any idea how much money it takes to hold someone for the full span of their lives? Its well into the hundreds of thousands if not millions by the time they exhaust all their appeals.
Our goverment has far more pressing issues to address with that money than making sure some murdering bastard doesn't sleep on a cold, wet stone floor and get fed every day.
