I have no idea, but I do believe he's currently an E5 and that he just didn't use the new one.

Yeah, I think my Dad was an E7 and he retired a master sergeant.. And before that he was a tech sergeant and before that he was a staff sergeant.

Air Force - e5 = Staff Sergeant. Army and Marine Corps - e6 = Staff Sergeant.
