American schools add a bunch of uneccesary shit to education programs. Why would anyone need the above lettering codes?

i think he meant 1 was the worste, besides when i was in elementary school the grading system was 1-5... devilish:
but i use to pass school without doing anything except homework after it was my time for bed (it sounded better). then i got into highschool. i risk being kicked from my 360 and computer. :(
No, 2 is the worst. I know that it doesn't make sense, but if it did, it wouldn't be a Soviet hangover. Funnily enough, I got this quote when I was in Washingotn. I went to a cigar shop (I'm a big fan of cigars) and asked if the guy could recommend me anything. He asked me what I usually smoked, to which I replied: "Cuban". He answered: "Sorry we don't sell Cuban here, because of the embargos. I know it doesn't make any sense, but if it did, it wouldn't be American".

In British school, once you get to higher grades (respectively, grades 11 and 12 in America), your grading system changes. Instead of getting marks from 0-5 (and a GPA out of 10, which we call Markreading, i.e. 9.28), as well as getting 2 grades per subject, one for effort (attitude in class, tidyness of work, etc) and one for achievement (what you actually get for test, homework, etc), you get a grade for achievement 0-10 and a grade for effort, which is either:
X - excellent
G - good
S - satisfactory
U - unsatisfactory

These didn't affect your GPA, but were more a reference to tutors, etc.

Complicated system, but it works really well. I hated it in lower grades when my effort grades pulled down my GPA.

I'm gonna have to side with your mom on this one, 2 out of 5 seems to be crap. On the AP exams they have here, 5 is max, and most colleges don't accept anything less than a 4. 2 is one away from the minimum. 2 out of 5 is not a great grade.


Yeah, the number "2" Sucks.. But she doesn't notice my "5"'s all over the place... And probably, my average is around 4.4+ Which is at our 3 9th grades at our school, pretty high...

Oh man.. Wish it would be exam time, I got a pretty decent advantage there, I don't loose my nerves ^^

I left school in Estonia when I was 12 (I'm 19 now), so that's why I'm not aware of the changes. I do occasionally visit though.

edit: uni is fine here, but I've got bare work.

As in a LOT of work? *FYI Frater is one of my favorite Mods* It has to be hard working and going to College dude , especially with a double Major in Law.Not to mention it is for 2 different Countries. I did that(work I mean) all through High School,and senior year went half days to the local College...I didn't even get out of High School first and I was taking College classes.

Nono, I don't work, I leech off my parents :P When I mean work, I mean university ~~ That's how we refer to it here.

I know that some people have to work and go to uni at the same time, but I'm fortunate enough to not have to do so (my parents had to do it). I believe that for as long as one is in university, they should try to spend as much time and effort as possible on studying, so that they can get the best grades.

Bare = lots (slang)
The kind of slang that I speak is really weird, because I've got a mix of 2 British boarding schools (every single British boarding school has their own lingo), I'm Estonian, so include a strange accent, lived in a multilingual environment and am now getting some from London as well. I.e. some of the slang that I use:
yat = girl
tonk = hot when referring to a girl, built when referring to a guy
properly = very
flex = can mean anything from come to give to do
allow = **** it, i.e. "Allow that" = **** that
etc, etc.

LOL I see! I worked 2 jobs and also went to School...but my family was very poor. I knew I would have to succede on my intellect or not at all. I tell my kids all the time when they complain about someones accent,slang,or whatever that they (whomever they are wanting to ridicule) speak 1 more langauge than YOU do...smartass. This pretty much shuts them up.
