d2 loader error

K so when i try to use the d2 loader, which is in the right directory with the mpq files an all, i get this error saying unknown version wich reads:

d2loader does not recognize the version of diablo 2. this build is only designed to work with diablo 2 v1.11b.

im completely new to diablo just got the game. so ive no idea wat im doing really i just no i had to try the d2loader because i was getting an error with the disc saying the disc isnt in the cd-rom drive, but it was.

that means that your version is not 1.11b, so update it.
as for the error with it saying the disk wasn't in the drive, it's probably scratched. I had the same problem a while ago and I cleaned it and it worked.

i looked in the patch document and it says 1.03 as the highest one so would i manually patch/update? and if so where would be the best place to get the patch/update.

yes....just got download the patch file from blizzard and update yourself

k, so ive got the patched dled. Just wondering if I need to place in D2 directory or c an i run from desktop?

i believe you can run it from desktop.....but you probably could have just tried and if it didn't work then put it in the directory.

didnt wanna take a chance and spreading files in places they didnt need to be. ok so i tried it from the desktop and a big black screen comes up with a message saying: This patch cannot be applied because it is for a different vrsion of the game, and underneath that it has file version 1.0.7.0. also it says the updater is v2.72 if that means anything.
