Every wanted to run MMBot while writing a paper, or watching a downloaded video, ect. now you can. The program VMWare Workstation will simulate an os environment while in that os. Meaning you will have your own mouse and keyboard to work with, while mmbot can run with its own mouse and keyboard. This program is very easy to install also.
Lets start with where to get VMWare:
- VMWares Workstation (http://www.vmware.com/download/ws/)
While you're there you can get a 30 day cd key to use it. I am sure there are other ways to get keys for this, which you may use. I went with the 30 day and signed up for 5 right off the start. So i don't think hunting for an illegal copy is necessary. So sign up while you're there.
Just a heads up...this is emulating an entire OS and will take up some disc space. I gave mine 8gigs, however I also have 400. I have heard that if you are just limiting it to things like running diablo you can leave it down around 3-4gigs. It is really up to you, if you have trouble after the install then uninstall and bump it up.
On to the install. Start the install file.
Choose typical install.
Select the OS you wish to emulate.
Name the "Virtual PC" you are installing. You can also select the install dir here.
Next is networking. You have 4 options, Bridged is the most likely to work, and most common, so just choose bridged.
Now you can set your "Virtual Disk" space. I changed mine to 4 gigs, because my diablo install with extra files(on full install) is over 1.5 gigs, and with a full install of windows xp it is about 1 gig....totaling to 2.5, giving my an extra 1.5 gigs for whatever in the future.
NOTE:To save space on the windows install, turn off the paging file if you really need the space.
Now you can open the program.
On the left you will see your virtual machine, click on this and click start(power on).
When you do this you need to put in your Windows Install Disk, and great news...you can use an ISO, for all those people that don't have the disks. To switch drives right click on the cd-drive icon on the bottom right of vmware:

At any time to free your mouse control from VMware just press Ctrl+Alt then you can move your mouse freely from the emulated OS until you click on the screen of it again.
Now to setup your diablo:
Copy your MMbot files over to the virtual drive via the network workgroup between your computer and your "virtual computer".
You can do the same with the diablo setup files, no need to reinstall the whole thing again with the cds.
reconfigure your mmbot if needed, for instance my diablo sits on my D: drive normally, but on my "virtual machine" it is on "virtual C:".
Once everything is configured you are ready to run.
You can continue to tweak out services and other un-needed processes on your "virtual machine" if you would like. Google un-needed processes and tweaks for more information on this. I made one virtual setup to run from my ipod since when i was going on a trip, worked great at 4 gigs and just disabled that paging file. Plugged into whatever computer i could get to and ran from the ipod.
NOTE:what really makes this whole setup nice is the bridging of connections. So you have 2 different ips for your d2loader. Helps with those long R/D's.
NOTE:while i was at college i noticed alot of problems with bridging the connection. IF you have a connection that requires you to download a "security agent" or other program to gain access to the network(i.e. some colleges) you will need to install that program on the virtual machine as well in order to bridge the connection.
Hope this guide helps you in your diablo 2 botting, and other things.
