A friend of mine was telling me about multi-boxing he started doing using a program called keyclone. It allows you to run more than one account at the same time. He has two computers, a desktop and a laptop, and on each computer he has two windows open, running two accounts and one character from each account. That's a party of four characters being run by one person.
After talking with some GM's about it, they say it isn't against the rules because none of it is automated and everything is being controlled by one person. Think of the possabilities. You have to get a license to use the software on ONE computer. The license's cost $10 each and you can only use the software on the computer you have the license for.
It is set up to allow the accounts to link via broadband, so whatever you type in one window shows up in all four. For instance, if you had a party of three mages and a priest, you could have a macro for them to all perform one action. Likewise, you have a macro for the three mages to follow the preist, and another for them to target and dps whatever the priest is targeting.
I have two computers as well and am thinking about getting them licensed for this. He is playing around with it and showing me stuff and trying to get better, but with time, we could have a whole party controlled by just two people: prots, dps, dot, aoe, ect.
Just to piss people off, when we get better with the program, we were thinking of creating a massive warlock party. Fear...dot...dot...dot....dot...fear.....aoe....do t...dot..dot. smartass2
The way this works though, since you can't run multiple chars from any one account, is that you obviously have to have access to other accounts. What he is doing is telling his friends, and his brother, "Hey, let me use your account and I'll get you a char to lvl 70 fully decked." Pretty sweet deal for both people.
