check this, dam taken goes to mana 50% mod = you get hit with 100 dam, you lose 100 life; you gain 50 man. Energy shield at 50% = you get hit with 100 dam, you lose 50 life; you lose 50 man. What happens when you combine the 2?
Would it mean that when 100 dam is dealt, you lose 50 life and end up only losing 25 mana
I would be cool if if we got all factors in this. Such as mana loss per life lost on ES, also what other things would do when they factor in. Like string of ears 15% dam reduction.
Thx all

Naw, you got the wrong end of the stick. It works something like, if you have 50% Damage Taken goes to mana, then:
Get hit for 1000.
Lose 1000 health.
Gain 500 mana.
Or at least that's how I think it worked.
Energy Shield and Damage Taken Goes to Mana are completely different skills and stats.

I think his question is something like this...
You have:
50% ES
100% DTM
1000 Health
1000 Mana
You take 1000 PHYSICAL damage at full health and mana
(Here is where the debate would begin) What happens first?
Is DTM applied first or is ES applied then DTM. If DTM is first then technically there would be no affect and you would be hit as if you had 50% ES and no DTM.
If ES is applied first and you got hit you would take the 500 health and 500 mana penalty and then be given the 500 mana back. You would still lose the health though. This would technically be just like having 50% DR. Tell me if I am wrong in my hypotheses.

Sounds good. Sorry, I misread the original post.
here is equation and question restated...
Stats:
1000 health
1000 mana
50% DTM
50% through your ES
when you get hit with 1000 dam, I would assume the order is (500 to life, 500 to mana, the 250 of mana would then be restored from the 50% DTM)
Once again not including life to mana conversion with ES
what i am trying to ultimately figure is at end of build, if i can make an ES chararcter who loses 50% of what is normally lost with out losing as much as what ES would say it loses.
This may depending on what rules allow give leeway to make char that loses no mana from its ES
but yes, what metal said is what im trying to confirm
finding out wich goes first
