DownloadsHero Editor version 1.03 for editing Diablo II LOD and NOX V1.03, V1.07, V1.09D, V1.10, V1.11b and V1.12 (and V1.10s beta) haracter Files and Items (offline/SinglePlayer and Open only).
Download the ZIP file into a new directory. UNZIP it. There should be three files ("setup.lst", "setup.exe", "Hero Editor.CAB"). Run (double click) the"setup.exe" file (or just "setup", if you have known file extensions hidden), and follow the directions (Click on the big button, on the left side). BTW, if a message comes up re “Version Conflict”, answer yes (to keep the newer file that you already have).
Hero Editor usually requires that you are using an English version of Windows and your computer is set for single byte letters/Unicode, NOT multiple byte letters/UniCode. (NOTE: I have never had this problem, but others tell me this solved the problem for them.) From your Control Panel (Start > Settings > Control Panel) run Regional Settings, look for something about Unicode. Make sure the Unicode setting is for single bytes. Also (MOST IMPORTANT for Win XP/Vista) make sure that you have the language setting for English (in BOTH the Regional Options tab, and the Advanced tab). If using WinXP, it might also help to right-click on Hero Editor.exe, select Properties, and in the Compatibility tab, select Windows 95 mode. If NOT set correctly, you will probably get error messages such as "unknown stat found: 21".

when i try to dl mods on d2 sector, it tells me this...fatel error that its private, what can i do to fix this? |

I cannot get this program to install on my computer. I've downloaded and unzipped the file. When I click on the setup.exe file and try to run it, I get the error 'Could not open the file C:\Users' blah blah blah 'SETUP.LST' And immediately following that when I click OK (the only option available), I get another error stating 'The SETUP.LST file could not be copied - Setup cannot continue'. Obviously, the blah blah blah is the file path where for Hero Editor, I just didn't feel like typing it all out. I am running Vista by the way. Also, a friend of mine (also on Vista) downloaded it and ran the setup with no problems. I have no idea why it's not working for me. |

have you tried extracting it somewhere else such as c:\hero\ and running setup as administrator? |

Hmm, For some odd reason, that cleared up my problem. Thanks, Luke. Don't I feel like a dunce. By the way, sorry for the post in black. For some reason when I try to add a new comment, the default text is white on a white background. And silly me, I couldn't find an edit button. Anyway, my problems are all cleared up. At least the ones dealing with Hero Editor. Thanks again. |

Galimoth, UAC is a big feature of windows vista that causes problems with programs, if things don't work, get used to trying to run them as administrator. |

It actually turns out that running as an administrator wasn't the problem. I had been trying to do that all along. The problem was apparently the directory it was in on my computer. I couldn't run the *.exe from my Downloads folder. I tried moving it to another folder (under My Documents) and running it from there. It still didin't work. For some reason, when I downloaded it to the desktop and tried to run it from there, it worked perfectly. I still don't understand it, but I'm thankful for the help in steering me in the right direction. |

Hey when i downloaded this, it let me do what i wanted. When i get on Diablo it never saved my changes an it keeps doing it why? |
