What ur so-called open mind doesnt see is that this is a very small step in a huge plan. Now they impliment this rule that affects "only their so-called ALLEGED terrorists (note that if they had enough proof they probably wouldnt need this bullshit of a new rule).
ok lets say its ok
a few years later they decide that... somebody going out against the governement is causing them problems. HEY! lets call him an "alleged terrorist" and imprison him, and u know what, then we can make him dissapear! problem solved, thanks georgy!

following ur path of ideas, i suppose u must agree with this?
rofl at ur sterotyping. ive seen some dumb people in my life, but this? im starting to think theres someone worse than mathalablabla on the forums..

ahaha how old are you? you act like your 10 or something. everything always has to do about some "huge government conspiracy". why do u think our government is designed to way it is? its to keep ultimate power from any 1 certain individual or group. even if your retarded conspiracy theory is true, the bush administration isnt goin to be in office. the republicans dont even have bushes back, so who is goin to carry out the plan? stop being retarded. our government is designed to keep any corruption from taking place. sure if u want call bush a retard, thats what he is. i dont agree with alot of what hes done. you can even call him corrupt, but guess what, he wont be there much longer so then what? obviously you are left or like to consider yourself to be, so when a liberal is elected next term (because chance are it will happen) that would stop any such "conspiracy".

Quote: if u arent doing anything to put yourself in jeoperdy of getting in trouble then why are you so worried?

you idiot, chris said that being sarcastic. he wasnt meaning that as a statement.

OK, I don't see where all terrorists are defined as Muslim, nor do I see that all Muslims are terrorist. I don't agree with this bill because I do think it is the first step down that "slippery slope." There are a lot of so-called terrorist in this country that are US citizens. The FBI has quite a few groups listed as "eco-terrorist" and they are homegrown. The right to Habeus Coprus was incorporated into the Constitution as a fundamental human right and that is what I believe it should stay; not just one entitled to US citizens.
If there were not so many anti-US US citizens this law would never have even been concieved, but since there are so may idiots that think this country (or any other country for that matter) deserves what we get from these "poor misunderstood" people that we should just let them go for whatever pathetic reason they come up with. I am sorry, but to me terrorism is a cowardly act of war against whatever country or people it is inflicted upon. Arrest the suspected terrorist, let them know what they are accuse of, present the case against them in a military tribunal and if they are found guilty.... let them be dealt with harshly.
I am sure the US Supreme court will strike this down as unconstitutional, but at least Bush is trying to do something. More than I can say for a lot of others that wanted to hold his position....

I thought this was about violating the contstitution. What did he do?

Bush violates constitution - Fuggle - 10-20-2006

Go look up Abe Lincolns Habeas Corpus run ins, he broke a shitload of laws but you don't call him a fool who is bringing our country to it's knees.

Bush violates constitution - Z3R0 - 10-20-2006

I'm not defending him for heavens sake. I'm asking a literal question. What did he do? So far, people are talking about terrorists and Muslims.

Bush violates constitution - Phallock - 10-20-2006

The claim is that this law will suspend habeas corpus for "suspected terrorists." What happens then is if you are labeled a "suspected terrorist" is that you may not see all the evidence in support of that label or accusation. It would make defending yourself a lot more difficult because you might not know what you are defending yourself against. In this instance I think Bush is wrong but I do appreciate his motivation.

not sure if this is directed toward me or not, but either way, i specifically pointed out that not all muslims are terrorists, in fact the majority arent. yet the majority of the terrorists we are fighting, ARE muslims so thats where the thought of all muslims being terrorists comes into play.

Ah, yes I would have to say that this would piss me off quite a bit. And what about the thing where the CIA is trying to get rstrictions removed on toture methods. It's like, your not a terrorist, but if they think you are, they detain you bring out medevial torture on your ass and make you tell them stuff you didn't know in the first place. mad:

Not everything they tell you in school is 100% accurate.

I agree. I heard that one of Bushes boats got overrun by the FBI and he had a lot of cocaine onboard. Then said he didn't know how it got there or what it was.

hes right...our government is just a powerless figurehead...we're really still being ruled by the king of england...

Bush violates constitution - Z3R0 - 10-20-2006

Lol, that, is a funny joke. Ha, ha, Whoooooo......you are kidding right? I did always hear in history that the President was just a symbol. I think it is the Senate who make most of the decisions. Them and Congress.

Bush violates constitution - Darth Mortis - 10-22-2006

the issue it that the government now has the power to take you from your home, ship you off to another state, or GITMO or one of the CIA prisons, hold you indefinately, and not have to provide you council, charge you, or provide you a trial. you can, in effect, sit in a cell until the day you die and the government is no longer obligated to recognise your constitutional rights.

it is a very dark bill, and the implications are much further reaching then the government and its collaborators want you to believe.

this is the first step to facism, giving yourself (read: government) the authority to take anyone, at any time, for any reason and locking them away for as long as you want.

i should not be the only one scared by this type of legislation, because all the government has to do is say 'we think he might be a terrorist' and then you disappear.

Bush violates constitution - the_aggie10 - 10-22-2006

im with bloodangel on this....if terrorist are going to be terrorists they should be tortured....if everyone in america is still safe! if it is done so my family is safe so be it.

Bush violates constitution - Z3R0 - 10-23-2006

As I dug deeper into this thread, I found more meaning. This is really ****ed up. You could have terrorists living next door to you and the FBI gets an anoynomous tip but hits the wrong house, your house. It is very likley to happen. It Has happened with fire departments and police departments. There was a man laying in bed with his wife, sleeping, his kids down the hall, sleeping. And the fire department bust down his front door and runs into his house spraying water everywhere. Turns out, it was the house right around the corner that was on fire but they got the wrong address. Now, if the FBI thinks that you are a terrorist or are affiliated with them in any way, they might come and haul off your terrorist neighbors but also haul you off, thinking that because you live right next to them and didn't call in the tip, that you are in association with them. Right?

Bush violates constitution - Fuggle - 10-23-2006

If a Fire Department couldn't tell a house was clearly not on fire, they need to kill themselves.

Bush violates constitution - xDBD - 10-23-2006

Sweet! One step closer to total government control!!

I can't wait until they infringe upon my rights that i'm guaranteed in the Bill of Rights. One day I bet they'll even tell me what to say!

Fuggle Wrote:If a Fire Department couldn't tell a house was clearly not on fire, they need to kill themselves.

Exactly, and the house was right around the corner. But what if the FBI thinks you are a terrosist. Are all your constatutional rights revoked? Just ignored? Bush is really going to far with this.

Bush violates constitution - Fuggle - 10-23-2006

So was Lincoln throughout his terms, but I don't see you complaining about him.
