it does take a long time sometimes to pick up the items... but be persistent... ive gotten several items... obviously you have to deal with a noob to get them to fall for it...
also... are there other places where you can do the scam? ie: act 1, 2 or 5? Has anyone got it to work anywhere else?

there are other ways to get connection inturrupted like hittin control shift and click on a cube when ur at a vender and others but the extended inventory just gets annoyin cuz sumthimes i do it by accident
