Bah, you have to put the Rolling Stones up there if you include those friggin rappers and bands like Sublime. Not saying Sublime is bad, but the Stones were that much more influential.

Greatest Bands/Artists ever - SpoonMan999 - 04-26-2004

Didn't realize I forgot the stones...my bad...and I had to represent rap a bit since it is a very popular genre now...while I'm not a fan it got recognition...sorry about the stones being left out

Vanhalen (jump,5150,316)
Guns N Roses (Sweet Child of Mine)
Joe Satriani (surfing with the alien, midnight, war traveler, beetoven's fifth, the journey, day at the beach, rubina)
Steve Vai ?(for the love of god, speed metal symphony)
Nuno Bettencourt (Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee, which is probly one of the fastest songs you could listen to, aside from the fact that its a drum pattern linked to the guitar in the song)
Yngwie Malmsteem (Arpeggios from Hell)
Disturbed (The Game, meaning of life)

(and i hate to post this last part) but Eminem was some-what of an influental rapper with the song 8 mile (even though most of the time he sounds like a whiny white b-itch)

Greatest Bands/Artists ever - TroGdoR - 04-26-2004

Eminem hit it off with The Real Slim Shady and My Name is. Those were the two big songs, not 8 mile.

Greatest Bands/Artists ever - SpoonMan999 - 04-26-2004

He meant that 8 mile was more inspirational you crazy burninator

Greatest Bands/Artists ever - TroGdoR - 04-26-2004

Lol, so sorry to interrupt, Proceed! Big Grin

Greatest Bands/Artists ever - Poik - 04-26-2004

ok... it would be a whole lot easier to make this list if we divided the music into genres... or to do it chronologically...

here's a list ive put together, taking yours into consideration and not adding them to my list; most are revolutionists and granfathers of new genres of music

Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, BB Rich, Bo Diddly --- godfathers of blues

Bob Marley - Raggae

Funk Movement - Afrkann Bumbatta (not positive on spelling), George Clinton, and Bootsy Collins all pretty much created the funk movement
------also, James Brown, Little Ritchie and Ray Charles

Run DMC works, however, you must add Public Enemy and NWA---Ice Cube for the the east coast rappers-spawned gangster/political rap movements

The Supremes - The Temptations - Motown movement

The Beegees - disco movement---as well as others, however Beegees had a huge influence

White Raggae movement - Police, Sting, Blondie, and sublime came way after these folks... so i think you should take sublime right off the list. Good band, but didnt do much contribution to the furthering of music

The Beatie Boys were first to be white rappers, hard to believe but, true

I could go on.... but im gonna leave you with this.

You put up metal bands, but you didnt put up the very first guys, to basically invent heavy metal -----Black Sabbath, regardless their style, they are the gods of heavy metal as we know today.

anyway, ill be back to add some more after i hear what you guys say.
oh ya, take off 311, they didnt nothing for the scene.

add madonna, and marilyn manson for obvious reasons.

peace, poik.
