As far as I remember, being taught English at school was that whenever you are naming more than one person, personally inclusive, you always put yourself last and say "I" instead of "me". I don't know, maybe you guys have a different way of saying it in America, but I was taught by Brits... That could be the difference.

actually your all wrong and frater is right, its my girl and I, whenever you are talking about you and another person its always X and I, so if you say "me and my brother walked to the store" to be gramatically correct it would be "my brother and I walked to the store"

I think it's "me and my gal" because "my gal" is possessive. If you were to say her name (let's just use Jill) it would be "Jill and I."
