they changed the length of time from 90 to 36 to attempt to clean the servers of inactive accounts.

Wasn't hackers... When bliz bans an account for cheating (Maphack, Bots, etc...) They change the pass (and im assuming its to something you cant type in the "enter password" box so you cant brute-force you account back) This way, if they manage to make a mistake, they can fix it...
However, if you ever used any program with D2 (bots, MH, other crap...) don't even bother e-mailing bliz...
