New computer - 4sylum - 10-23-2004 I just built a new computer today. blow the crap out of my old one. here are the specs. Motherboard: ASUS a7n8x-e, NVIDIA® NForce2 Ultra 400 + MCP-T Chipset Processor: AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 333FSB RAM:1024MBs DDR400 PC3200 RAM Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 Ultra 256mb HD: 40 gigabytes lol i was using a 751MHz Pentium 3 before this  New computer - 66xerox66 - 10-23-2004 Not Bad ![]() New computer - Nubli - 10-23-2004 Holy crap, great minds think alike! That motherboard and processor chip are exactly what I want to buy! Right now I'm using an old dell (still a p4 but it only accepts 1 type of ram). Only gonna be about $350 too ![]() New computer - Lizard Wizard - 10-23-2004 I'm waiting to RMA my new 64-bit MOBO back to Asus. I got something funky in the BIOS, when I turned it on, it wouldn't detect my hard drive, but I flashed it and it worked great for one bootup, then it failed to detect my HD again. At the moment, my system specs: Asus A7N8X-Deluxe, Athlon +2500, 1.25 GB RAM, Radeon 9800 PRO 128MB and an 80 GB Sata drive. In a few weeks: ASUS K8V-Deluxe, Athlon +3200-64 bit, 1.25 GB RAM, Radeon 9800 PRO 128(I may get a GeforceFX 6800GT, though.) and a 120 GB ATA HD New computer - 4sylum - 10-24-2004 Quote:Holy crap, great minds think alike! Only gonna be about $350 toonot if you buy your parts at newegg.com i got the processor new for 137$ there. the motherboard sells for 87 there new. and if your going to use the case the dell pc is in make sure to buy a case fan to keep it cool. I recommend just buying a cheap full size case for it. i got one for 40$ it came with a 400w power supply and has alot of room in it. New computer - Nubli - 10-24-2004 Thats what I'm going to do. I've looked up all the 4 things I'm going to get at newegg.com and a nice black with red lights case =) But I still have to do the hardest part - convince my mom to let me use that money from my bank account ![]() New computer - skidude - 10-24-2004 N u b l i Wrote:Thats what I'm going to do. I see some of the things are even cheaper than they are at newegg...and free shipping(to Alaska, anyway.) Thats where you get screwed too, is the shipping. New computer - 4sylum - 10-26-2004 ![]() ![]() ![]() New computer - A|fzZz - 10-26-2004 hmm...its a lil messy....mayb u shud try moving those "wires" aside... New computer - Spitfire - 10-26-2004 Nubli has seen mine ![]() New computer - A|fzZz - 10-26-2004 but we havent seen... ![]() New computer - 4sylum - 10-26-2004 lol i can't the hard drives are in the way. they spring back. and as far as the ribbon wires go they arent going to budge because they can barely reach my drives as it is New computer - Spitfire - 10-26-2004 Which is why you buy rounded cables ![]() New computer - A|fzZz - 10-26-2004 the cables clean up your case? New computer - Silver Ice - 10-27-2004 40gb isnt that much, try +150 New computer - Hamel - 10-27-2004 Some parts to the computer only take ribbon wires.... New computer - Spitfire - 10-27-2004 Yes... because they are round and about 1cm thick instead of huge ughle ribbons. So you can position / hide them in your case better. only part you can see of them in my case is the plugs where they connect to the cd burner and dvd burner. After there they tuck back into the empty drive bay, then down the back of the case to where they connect to the motherboard. Wich is an Abit AN7 with the sockets that face outwards instead of upwards which is a nice idea ^.^ PS: Rounded cables are ribbon cables, just better designed. :p New computer - ELiTeX - 10-27-2004 40gb hard drive in a few years is nothing becuz thats the size of ps3 disks.... New computer - Hamel - 10-27-2004 Oic spit thats pretty cool |
