Haha this reminded me of a scam people did when trading accounts shortly after Blizzard developed the Email password recovery system.

Choose to 'create a new account'
Decide on a username & password. Continue
Read the TOS and continue
Enter in your current email address and confirm, this is for password recovery use later, if needed.
It should take you to the character selection screen. Click on the character of your choice. Most people choose to begin new accounts with a MF sorc of some type. If you'd like to do this as well, click the sorceress. (Green clad female bearing a staff.)
Choose your sorceress's name.
Make sure "Ladder Character" is checked.
Following this procedure, you should now be in what's called the lobby.
Voila! You now have a free Diablo 2 Ladder account on USEast. Wasn't that easy!?!
Oh.. and by the way: All of this was done (assuming you didn't get side-tracked or confused along the way) in a LOT less time than it would've EVER taken to get even an EMPTY account off of someone else for free.
