In hero editor how do you change the looks and colors of items? It is driving me nuts

As far as I know the only way to change items color is to socket them with certain perfect jewels.
PRuby= Red
PSkull= Black
PDiamond= White (and etc)
As far as changing the overall look of items you can't do that and I highly doubt you will ever be able to.

You CAN change the item looks, but I'm not sure if you can in Hero Editor.
