The Reason why Blizzard was looking for former Diablo II programers - Obfuscate - 03-30-2005

Just in case none of you get or read PC Gamer the newest issue featured an article about the newest game being preped from Blizzard by the programers of Diablo II. They were hired to create a futuristic game called Hellgate: London. This game will play much like Diablo II did but it will be farther in the future and have guns and what not.

Essentially folks there is NOT going to be a Diablo III or another expansion pack for Diablo II coming out in the future just a regurgiation of Diablo II set in the future instead.

Lame? Yes.

I never knew that. Thank you Sinner for updating me with that important news item.

Your welcome. Maybe now all this useless gossip that surfaces every now and then will stop.

i was thinking of making a thread about this a while ago, but w/e. ill take a look at the screenies and if it doesnt suck i might get it to play on and off. but if i gotta pay monthly for it then f$#% them.

Thanks Sinner. As long as it looks good and is not pay to play, I might get it...I'd rather have D3...But this could be cool too.

EDIT : Isn't stonehenge in London? If so, I think that's where they might be going with it.

If it plays like Diablo II, it won't be a MMORPG, so it shouldn't have a monthly fee.

Have they just started making this? Or do they have screens already for it?

Blizzard is good with RPG's, so I'd say this game will be a hit.

This game is not being made be Blizzard, It's being made by people who quit and made their own company called Flagship Studios.

Diablo type games shouldnt even be thought of as guns and explosives, it ruins the midevil thrill Sad

I was hoping for something like rifles of some sort, but they've got laser guns from what I've read.

Hmm...New game from blizz eh...
But there's A LOT of game news sites that has D3 comin out -_-

The Reason why Blizzard was looking for former Diablo II programers - Matt.B - 03-30-2005

Bah, laser guns are stupid. One hit kills are boring and if you survive a laser then its corny. Diablo is so much better with the swords and magic.

Do you have a link to the new company wich gonna produce this game?
Am still waiting for blizz to produce Starcraft Ghost wich they told us they were to release spring 2003.

There seems to be some good information here- all of it can probably just be seen in PC Gamer, but incase you are cheap and don't feel like buying one, here's the link: http://www.blizzplanet.com/modules.php?act=News&id=64

You do realize though that this game is not in the diablo universe. The diablo universe is Diablo, Hellfire, Diablo 2,LOD, and stuff like that. This is Flagship Studios; some of the former diablo II execs are helping to run the show there, and there may be some parallels between Hellgate: London and the Diablo universe, but they are not one and the same.

I full plan to try out this product when (and if) this product is released; i believe they listed perhaps by 2006.
