How To Make Your Own Renders - [Ghost] - 05-22-2005

In this tutorial I'm going to show you how to make your own renders for your sigs. First things frist pick a picture. I picked a Halo 2 shot

At the end it will look like this
[Image: tothis3fm.th.jpg]

First step is to set your colors to default, to do this hit D. Now switch to Quick Mask mode. Do this by hitting Q or hitting the button I highlighted
[Image: this21jr.th.jpg]

Now black bring up the highlight and white erases it. Make a basic outline to what you want. Use a big brush as your just making a basic outline

Now erase the parts of the background you don't want by brushing with white. If you mess up hit "X" to switch your colors.

Now grab your magic wand tool and select the inside of the selection. After selecting it go to Select > Modify > Expand. Expand it by 2 or 3 pixels and hit ALT + Backspace to fill it with black

Go back and look at what is highlighted and erase what you dont want.

Now go back to standered mode by hitting Q Your selection should be selected. Hit CTRL + J to make a new layer with what is selected and delete the background layer.

(it looks white but it is actualy clear)

Now just crop what you dont need and your done.

My render looks sloppy but thats because I was in a rush to finish this. Take alot more time than I did and make you render look the best it can. Good luck with making your own renders!

Not too bad Death, but I personally find the Pen tool much better quality, but good other option and depends on preference.

i always use pen. but i have no true sig making repuation at all. so it probably doesn't matter. nice tutorial though. highlighting the things really helped

I like brushing alot more than I do using the pen, thats why I don't use it. Preaty good for my first tutorial eh?

Hmmm...my methods are so crude...I usually just use the magic thingie to get out the big parts and then I zoom in really far with a small eraser and erase the whole bits i dont want :-O

I just lasso out big parts and bend out the rest. Works fine for me, i also seemlessly blend too Smile

Well, I guess the more blending you do with the render, the less it matters how well rendered it is. Like, your immortal reality sig is so heavily blended that I can't tell if it's choppy or smooth.

Nice tut, but I think I'll stay with gamerenders.com. Also, Foog, doesn't it say 'Immortal Beauty'?

How To Make Your Own Renders - lopolop - 08-12-2005

i think polygonal tool(or whatever) works best... what u did made it very choppy

How To Make Your Own Renders - 10 man - 09-28-2005

yep i always use the polygon marque tool. simple , effective, a little slow, but very acurate. i also change all my images to 300dpi before i do anything. good tute though. came out pretty decent.

i WOULD use this tut, but i cant find enough time, and its a lot to remember. i like the pen tool for the really curvy renders, and the eraser for the more irregular parts.

i dun even render images lol
