Quote:<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td colspan="2" style="padding-top: 3px;" valign="top"> Every single day, 30,000 children die, needlessly, of extreme poverty.

On July 6th, we finally have the opportunity to stop that shameful statistic.

8 world leaders, gathered in Scotland for the G8 summit, will be presented with a workable plan to double aid, drop the debt and make the trade laws fair. If these 8 men agree, then we will become the generation that made poverty history.

But they'll only do it if enough people tell them to.

That's why we're staging Live 8. 10 concerts, 100 artists, a million spectators, 2 billion viewers, and 1 message... To get those 8 men, in that 1 room, to stop 30,000 children dying every single day of extreme poverty.

We don't want your money - we want you!

Bob Geldof:

"This is not Live Aid 2.

These concerts are the start point for The Long Walk To Justice, the one way we can all make our voices heard in unison.

This is without doubt a moment in history where ordinary people can grasp the chance to achieve something truly monumental and demand from the 8 world leaders at G8 an end to poverty.

The G8 leaders have it within their power to alter history. They will only have the will to do so if tens of thousands of people show them that enough is enough.

By doubling aid, fully cancelling debt, and delivering trade justice for Africa, the G8 could change the future for millions of men, women and children."</td></tr></tbody></table>

The Live 8 Performances - jedimaster86 - 06-29-2005

Yeh, I'm not going, but I believe my sister is (i live outside philly). It's kind of wierd, how it's set up that they don't want the money, and that it's a concert to in a way ends up trying to stop poverty, but it's a neat idea. Yea, the UK lineup does look pretty sweet, and the Philly one looks cool too. In general its cool to see some of the artists playing at their homeland (probably just the easiest place for them to play at, heh)

The Live 8 Performances - logic. - 06-29-2005

well i definetly cant go. so ill just watch on tv.

The Live 8 Performances - Tool - 06-30-2005

The Philly line-up is gay. The UK has Pink Floyd, dunno if they dropped out, but Pink Floyd > *.

Gotta agree about the Philly part, Its all mainstream Mtv-type music. ROFL Snoop Dogg at Uk one with all the great bands lol.
*Imagines* Announcer: That was the great Pink Floyd, Now our next artist Snoop Dogg.

What do you think of it so far, I haven't seen much of it because MTV+Vh1 seem to be more interested in the Philly lineup (Which Sucks), Im still waiting for the Pink Floyd performance to be aired.

I knew about this thread, I just kinda made a new thread for the afterword.

The Live 8 Performances - BlindMansTicket - 07-03-2005

I wasn't to thrilled about only seeing the Philly show and stitches of what the London event was doing. Other than Pink Floyd and Paul Mcartney (sp, also slips me).

I wanted to see the Paris show because of Muse being played... but, I heard it was on BBC. No got BBC. The internet saved my day and I found a d/l of their performance.

The Live 8 Performances - [Ghost] - 07-03-2005

I tuned in just for the Pink Floyd performance. It was worth it.

The Live 8 Performances - Tool - 07-03-2005

I ****ING MISSED IT. I was at my brother's band practice with a bunch of friends... That was still fun, though, BUT I ****ING MISSED IT! I'M SO PISSED. *goes to find DL*

The Live 8 Performances - Fuggle - 07-04-2005

I watched all 8 hours, Well most of it I would walk off when the shitty guys came on. Pink Floyd was the best performance easy. The Who had a small snip on Mtv (Stupid ****en mainstream bastards wanna watch philly). I would have liked more of them but whatever.

The Live 8 Performances - erizoe - 07-04-2005

I was gone all week, including saturday so I missed it, the first thing I did when I got home was find the download of London. Pink FLoyd did an amazing job, Roger didnt spit in anyones face this time. =)

But the thing I was pissed about is that Pink FLoyd's possible last gig was a 15 minute set including all 5 of the mainstream songs that they have.

I loves how in Wish You Were here, Roger said "This is for everyone who isn't here, especially Syd" something like that. THat felt so cool. If I was watching it live than I would have cried.

The Live 8 Performances - Tool - 07-04-2005

... In the version I downloaded it it has some extremely gay Russian shit to translate it or something so I can't hear him say that. I WAS SO PISSED. =(
