Graphics card seems to be too hot. - A|fzZz - 07-10-2005

Just installed my gfx card..[finally].

But after like 10 mins i touched the gfx and boy..Its HOT!

Im thinkin what could be causing this 'hotness'....Or isit supposed to be like that...Im planning on getting 2 fans tomoro...1 input the other to fan the PCI slots area.

But even without the fan i doubt it wil be THAT hot??

What model gfx card is it? and does it have a fan? any gfx card should have some sort of fan unless its got a huge mother of a heatsink on it for fanless cooling.

Looks like its not supposed to have a fan but i'd definatly by an aftermarket one for it :|
Some of these might be compatible.. (Prices are $AUD)

I run a 9250 and it never goes above 83 Fahrenheit. I'd deffinetly get a fan for it if it's running over 95.

So its behind where the monitor cable plugs into the card?

^Is Mine... You probably dont need to go overboard with the huge fans as the 9250 isnt all that gr8 to overclock...

Hmmm you could take it back, there is the possibility that the coolant in the heatsink leaked out.

Graphics card seems to be too hot. - mpeck - 07-17-2005

Buy a 6600GT.......that was my most recent investment.......i overclocked it as high as i could with keeping it stable......it was stock 500Mhz Core, 900Mhz Memory.....i overclocked it to 516Mhz Core(i know, not much), but the memory, i overclocked to 1140Mhz, its as stable as without overclocking it, and it runs very cool at that too, i dont have a thing to monitor its temp(anyone know one for the 6600GT?), but it runs cooler to the touch then my processor(which runs 35C idle, up to 45C under full load)

Advice is to buy a new card?

Graphics card seems to be too hot. - [Ghost] - 07-17-2005
