Socketing Question - Neon - 07-12-2005

Hi!
I just got a question about socketing.
You see, my bot snagged a
Superior Dusk Shroud yesterday. it has no sockets.
But i need to know, is it possible to make it 3 sockets with the socketing quest?
And does it matter witch difficulity i do it?

Socketing Question - [/sarcasm] - 07-12-2005

No, you can't make it 3 sockets, Larzuk automatically gives the full amount of sockets to a normal item.

Socketing Question - Neon - 07-12-2005

so it will be 4os then?

Socketing Question - Fuggle - 07-12-2005

Larzuk gives max if its over a certain iLvl, since you dont bot normal it will be 4 os.

Socketing Question - Silver Ice - 07-12-2005

there is a cube recipie for socketing a normal dusk shrowd but only larzuk could socket a superior one. try larzuk in normal because i think he can give you either 3-4 sockets... its probly max though anyway.

well, i gave an eth cs to a friend last night (found in pit) or this morning, and when he socketed it, got a 3.. i think sockets are random from larzuk.. and i know they're random from the cube. got a 1socket eth threasher when i cubed it once

edit: even tho 99% of the time u get max

Maybe reading through these will help. (thanks arreat summit)

Larzuk's socketing:
Arreat Summit Wrote:Normal items add the max number of Sockets depending on the item's level (this is determined by the level of the monster that dropped it) and the inherent maximum number of Sockets for the item's base type. So you may not always receive the "max" number of Sockets.

Socketing by cubing:

The number of sockets created will vary. The item must be normal and unsocketed. Low-quality items and superior items do not work. The item gets 1-4 sockets, randomly. However, the number of sockets is then restricted by the maximum number of sockets that base item with that ilvl can have. For example, if you have an item that can only have 2 sockets, there's a 5/6 chance of getting 2 sockets and a 1/6 chance of getting 1 socket.
