It's pretty much self-explanatory. Create a new character, go out into the forest, and go kill monsters for gold and exp. Use your gold to get better equipment. When your exp bar fills up and its blue or so (or when you are prompted to do so by truancy), you can gain a level by defeating your master, thus giving you more health and a new master, as well as a higher skill level. There are other things in town that you can mess around with, and when you want you can leave the Isle of Wen (whatever the name of the isle is), and you can go to a new town (something like Delombourg or so) and there are a ton of options now open to you. Just try out each of the various places, and you can also just go right into the forest and keep on fighting to gain gold and exp. It's a classic turn-based style of RPG, so it's really easy to understand.

I wouldn't even reccomend playing it right now, the servers are a bit unstable.
