I have downloaded the editor onto a compressed file then opened it up but when i go to setup a fatal error occurs and it doesn't go any farther than that plz help

Take the file that you downloaded and UNZIP it. There should be three files ("setup.lst", "setup.exe", "Hero Editor.CAB"). Run (double click) the"setup.exe" file (or just "setup", if you have known file extensions hidden), and follow the directions (Click on the big button, on the left side). BTW, if a message comes up re “Version Conflict”, answer yes (to keep the newer file that you already have).

i did that but after i run setup a message pops up "setup fatal error: unable to genertate installation log file.
i can see the box for instalation but when i click on the ok button then it exits that as well

If you are using Windows NT, 2000, or XP, then make sure you have Administrator rights when you try to install Hero Editor.
Also, try unziping and installing Hero Editor from a new (i.e. empty) directory (to avoid conflict with other files in the directory).
