Manga Review #2: Bite Club - Obfuscate - 08-18-2005 Okay, here is manga review #2 for public consumption. Basic Info: Title: Bite Club Publisher: Vertigo Writer(s): Howard Chaykin & David Tischman Genre(s): occult, supernatural and some romance Basic Storyline/Plot: In an alternate timeline where vampires are widely know to exist and have great power and sway a prominent vampire mafia family fights within itself after their father is suddnely gunned down. What entails is a story of personal angst for the main characters, there are quite a few I'm not going to start listing them all, and a hell of a lot of back stabbing as each person via's for absolute power. My Take: This is yet another half-original take on the good old vampire. Has very God Father-ish feel to it. The biggest downside is that it is not a series but a stand alone. On the upside the characters become rather well developed for a manga of 130ish pages. If you want something short and sweet without a long term commitment you just got it. Final Score: 08.5/10 (should have been a series) |
