Vengence Build, Viable? - shadowphoenix - 09-08-2005 thought it would be interesting to try this out, not as good as i thought (atleast when i tried it on open) Gear was ebotdz, levi, exile, shako/coa, angelics ring n ammy, raven, gores, dungos, magnus gloves for ias. Skills 10 each into hs and convic, maxed vengence, rest went equally into resists for synergy. Did 7.5k roughly, and thats before convic set in, only 10k ar ><. I tried it on open w/ legit chars (would have same health, mana, stats, skills as if u lvled normally) n it sucked real bad vs ne other pally. Ne ideas for skill changes or gear changes? One of my buddies said to change botd for death n use dual angelic rings. He also suggested using fanat instead of convic but then wuts the point of vengence? Might try puttin fort n death on char editor n test. Has ne one else had ne luck w/ this type of build?? If so plz post gear/skills. Vengence Build, Viable? - Siluru - 09-08-2005 Well what was the problem? Were you hitting your opponent or were you just doing very little damage? And do you know the person you were testing with? Some people like to be cheap and give their charactars unfair advantages, with like charms, stats, skills, and claim they are legit. Vengence Build, Viable? - shadowphoenix - 09-08-2005 No, it was a friend of mine,he had build a legit zealot just to see wut kinda damage it could do n stat placement ( he was tryin to figure out gear choices) so all his stats were real. And yea I did lil damage. I thought the elemental damage from vengence mixed the the convic would do some decent damage but i was wrong.. Also my ar is so low I hit like once ever 15- 20 times. I might have to try something to ignore target defense or something. If i can get my hands on death that freeze up a spot for another angelic, or maybe kee ebotz n cham my helm. I wont have much time to test it all till the weekend cause college n work eat most of my time up. If I can get a decent build, Ill post.....maybe  Still lookin or best gear choices. Vengence Build, Viable? - Siluru - 09-08-2005 Well, from looking at your items I can see a few things that could be changed. Goreriders are practically useless since your dealing elemental damage. Putting cham into one of your helmets, and wearing another angelic ring is a must. Also Fortitude is another waste due to the fact that you are doing elemental damage. Vengence Build, Viable? - shadowphoenix - 09-08-2005 Ok, but heres the question. Vengence is %based off the damage u do. Is that % based before or after the %ed from gear? cause if vengence is based on % after gear ed then fort might be viable. Im sitting in class right now n cant wait to get home n test. GD cisco certification classes... So maybe treks for the str n life bonus. Teachers back, ill post more when i get test. Vengence Build, Viable? - Freedom-Fighta - 09-08-2005 Its based on the modified damage of the weapon IE after strength %ED + MAximum damage and +Lump damage (From fort/grief/Astreon's ETC.) SO ya, some ED helps. And if you honestly want my two cents, i would say forget the freakin EBOTDZ!! Thats zealer item, Try this one on for size - Grief Runeword (NOT SURE ABOUT THE RUNES) Completed stats will be/range from - 35% Chance To Cast Level 15 Venom On Striking +30-40% Increased Attack Speed (varies) Damage +340-400 (varies) Ignore Target's Defense -25% Target Defense +1.875 (per character level)% Damage To Demons (Based on Character Level) Adds 5-30 Fire Damage -20-25% To Enemy Poison Resistance (varies) 20% Deadly Strike Prevent Monster Heal +2 To Mana After Each Kill +11 Life After Each Kill Can you say OUCH OMFG HACKER!!!! ... LOLZ BTW, this will ALWAYS roll higher than the best EBOTDZ, the +400 damage... total ownage man, total ownage. Ummm, maybe you shouldnt have so much in resists. Yes, adding pts is a good thing, but how you have it may be suicidal. Another factor to consider is the fact that your friend (anticipating your conviction) may have thrown on extra +all resist eqpt, thus making him have higher resists after conviction hit him. Ultimately, if you want a very good build, make a Zealot/FoH, FoH them so they get freaked out, put on Lightning zorb eqpt, and then say what now? WRONG. Show them you're a real FoHr by trying fuetily (1 or 2 times) to FoH them, then SURPRIZE!!! switch over to a Barnar's Star + HoZ combo with conviction on... How many words is You Have Been Killed, Press escape to continue? This build should utterly own the. But be warned, don't expect them to fall for this twice (and if they do, FOH/Zeal em again muahahaha) Vengence Build, Viable? - shadowphoenix - 09-08-2005 He didn't have stacked res. He only had the normal res from the +quests and wutever normal items he had. As I said before this was w/ legit chars (as if we lvled them normally) We do this to test out chars. I tried grief n fort in char editor. turned out ok. and the ignore target defense from grief frees up the rings n ammy. I might use sojs cause of the mana issue people tend to have cuz of the steep cost of vengence and possible maras for a total +4 skills to convic, hs, and vengence. As far as I can see. this might be viable. I've been bored on d2 neways, i guess ill attempt to build him. Prolly switch up the skills to look like Max HS, Vengence Enuff into Convic to reach -150res after +skills rest divided into each resist aura. See if i can get a g/r this weekend. I might use sojs cause of the mana issue people tend to have cuz of the steep cost of vengence and possible maras for a total +4 skills to convic, hs, and vengence Bad Idea. ITD (Ignore Target's Defense) works only in PvM, and even then i'ts limited to non-boss monsters. The minus 25% enemy defense will help. Why did you have trouble hitting? His defense should've been down so low he could get hit by a fallen. lvl 20 conviction has -90% target's defense. I'm NOT SURE but the -25% to enemie's damage will knock that last chunk of defense off, making him totally vulnerable to attack, IE dfense of a nice, sexy 0. ya know it, the zero that smiles at you from the character screen only too lately when fighting an aura enhanced monster. Zero, zip, zilch, the kind of zero that makes a concentration barb crap their pants. The kind of zero that makes well armed zealots run away in fear. My Friend i would also like to mention that Greif is Realm only (I THINK) and maybe even ladder only. However, due to its godly stats it would be worth the wait/cost/frustration. Vengence Build, Viable? - shadowphoenix - 09-10-2005 If ITD doesn't work pvp, how come I used to see zons w/ jahed wf? (back in old mh peeking days) as for grief my cuz quit d2 cause he was goin off to college and gave me his acct. he was strict ladder player so i got some decent things when ladder reset. unfortunatly the only melee items he had was fort, phoenix, grief. I keep testing it on open w/ "decent" results. Only prob i think im really gonna have is vs zealots cause im lacking the quick hit and high ar. I can't get above 12k ar w/out sacrificing too much in the way of damage ![]() Vengence Build, Viable? - HokageIzlude - 09-10-2005 Ppl are recommended weapons like Nords and Barnars because they give huge AR boosts and not many high end weapons have them. Famine is a nice weapon to use with Conviction, the ITD mod on Famine is pretty much useless since your using Conviction already, and it gives you no additional AR, but combined with Conviction's huge -defense (and resistances) it becomes pretty damn powerful, even more so than BOTD from my experience. I wanna get a Famine for my Conviction Zealot ![]() If you want my opinon though, I think Astreon's Iron Ward would work nicely for a Vengence Pally, it gives +4 Combat Skills, it can get up to 200% AR bonus, nice magic damage, and its got slow, giving you an edge over those fana using zealots, so your gonna have the speed advantage. You'll pretty much hit everything, while causing a nice chunk of elemental damage. You won't do as much physical damage, but then again, the point of a Vegence build is to do elemental damage and break through your enemies resistances and defense. Vengence Build, Viable? - Ekizel` - 10-12-2005 Hmmm what about a beastz for pvp? The fanatic aura would help solve the ar problem and the ias boost and the dmg would be decent. Vengence Build, Viable? - xenn2600 - 10-13-2005 edit: I guess this is an auradin rather than the vengence build, but it's the same concept. You can make a better version of the Vengence paladin by using Zeal instead, but still maxing out the synergies to vengence. Here's what I did: 1 Holy Shield 20 Zeal 20 Resist Fire 20 Resist Lightning 20 Conviction Rest into Sacrifice. Gear: Helm- Dream Armor- Dragon Shield- Dream Weapon- Hand of Justice Rings: Angelic's Amulet: Angelics Boots: Sandstorm Treks or Gore Rider Gloves: Steelrends or Dracul's or whatever you want Belt: Verdungo's or Arachnid's Mesh The resist auras are synergies for holy fire and holy shock, and they increase the damage and the damage added to your attack from the auras given by your items. You will do as much elemental damage as a Vengence paladin, but you'll hit much faster, you'll actually hit, and your auras will be doing great damage in combination with conviction. If you'd still rather use a Vengence paladin, for gear use everything I mentioned about the build above except as a weapon use Doom, made from a berserker axe. |
