Basically up'ed stuff is just a particular unique item but up a class. For example a unique ghost armor could be uped to make the same unique but instead of being ghost armor it would be a dusk shroud. Unfortunately you can only Up things on ladder. By up'ing something it gives it more defence but also generally a higher str requirement. (i hope that helps)

Also the Recipe for doing this for unique items is Lem + Ko + P Diamond + unique item (Ladder Only)

you can also upgrade items nonladder but only with the basic kinds of weapons/armor. For example u can upgrade magefist light gauntlets into magefist battle gauntlets, but only ladder characters can upgrade them into the elite statis (magefist crusader gauntlets). Keep in mind that recipies for armors and weapons are different!

FOR NONLADDER:
1 Ral Rune + 1 Sol Rune + 1 Perfect Emerald + Normal Unique Weapon = Exceptional Version of Weapon
1 Tal Rune + 1 Shael Rune + 1 Perfect Diamond + Normal Unique Armor = Exceptional Version of Armor (includes helms, gloves, shields, etc..)

FOR LADDER:
Lum Rune + 1 Pul Rune + 1 Perfect Emerald + Exceptional Unique Weapon = Elite Version of Weapon
1 Ko Rune + 1 Lem Rune + 1 Perfect Diamond + Exceptional Unique Armor = Elite Version of Armor
