Auradin/Avenger Paladin - Insane-Ninja - 12-16-2005 I had an idea that a auradin/avenger paladin would own. If my logic is right then you could deal out massive elemental damage with vengeance and then with auras you could clean up. OK the plan is to have conviction as your main aura and vengeance as your main attack. As most people should know, conviction when it reaches level 25 will take away -150 enemy resistances. Now that will help deal a load of elemental damage when vengeance is used. The plan is to max vengeance, enough into conviction(to reach 25 with item bonuses), max resist lightning, one into resist cold, max holy shield, and the rest into resist fire. So far this build sounds like it focuses solely on vengeance. But when we add items it all becomes clear. What were trying to accomplish with the items is to get some good offensive auras that will not only add to our damage but also do standard aura damage. With that being said, the items you will need are Dream, Doom pike, Hand of Justice zerker or Dragon shield (Ebotdz, if you wear Dragon), Maras, sojs, Herlad of Zakarum(or this could be your Dragon), Fortitude, and Bramble armor. Also your going to need an Act 2 mercenary with might to make this build really excell beyond expectations. Your character should wear Dream, Hand of Justice (or Ebotdz), Fortitude, Herald of Zakarum (or Dragon), Maras, and sojs. (boots, gloves and belt can be yours to decide, I'd suggest a perfect Verdungos) Your mercenary should wear the Doom Pike, Bramble, and whatever helm you choose. Something with some lightning facets or fire facets would be good since they further subtract from enemy resistances. Now fully decked out in your gear you should have a level 16 Holy Shock, Level 14 or 16 Holy Fire, you should recieve level 15 Holy Freeze from mercenary, level 16-21 Thorns, and a level equivalent Might aura. If all that damage stacks you should pretty much own everything in player vs player. Not to mention the aura damage dished out like every 20 seconds. Ok now I've never made this character (and I'm not sure if anyone else has, I've never encountered one) and I'm hoping for some feedback. That would be really helpful cause if it's a succesful character I'm going to make a guide. Vengence is alot stronger with convic and auradin gear but its hard to land a hit on a char that teles Auradin/Avenger Paladin - Bloodangel26 - 12-17-2005 one prob i just noticed going thru your 1st post ninja..you wont receive extra damage from merc's holy freeze aura...the holy damage auras only add damage to the char or thing they are active on. if you dont believe me, go check one of your chars that has a holy freeze merc and check your damage before and after it activates and i guarantee it will be the same. i corrected someone else making this same mistake in a guide..think it was an auradin guide Auradin/Avenger Paladin - Tetsumaru - 12-17-2005 ok, it sounds good, but take out the stuff that adds holy fire aura, you dont need them. lvl 14 holy fire aura deals about 10 dmg from the aura and 70 to attack. holy fire is absolute shit, so get rid of it. use something useful. otw its a very good build, and there will also be that 1 pt in charge from prereq for killing sorcs. (but wtf about wind druids?? cyclone armor, enigma ... ) Auradin/Avenger Paladin - bigdeath - 12-17-2005 With auradin items just regular attack does almost 10k. With avenger with good synergies which keep in mind are synergies to the holyfire and holy shock too (auradin auras) you do 10k there as well. So your lookin at like a 20k damage attack Auradin/Avenger Paladin - Insane-Ninja - 12-18-2005 Yeah valid points folks but... the auras you have active because of items I found out recieve skill bonuses from items. So potentially you can have like a level 25 Holy Shock and level 25 Holy Fire(which adds about 400-500 damage) and I know that my mercenarys Holy Freeze doesn't add to characters damage but the purpose of it is to slow casters. When casters are frozen there cast rate is cut in half. So with the slowed...even without charge, you could probably land a couple hits with vengeance and they will be dead guarenteed. You'll do like 10k damage with just vengeance. Then adding your auras you'll do like 25k. Plus on top of that you should have conviction as your main aura, that minuses enemy resistances like 100% or more. Doing even more than 25k damage when you hit. I doon't have a hero editor so I can't test this character, but in theory this character should pretty much own everything. Possibly even a smiter... Well I'm just looking for a confirmation on how good a characrter this would be before I try to make one or write up a build. Thanks for the posts guys your helping me scope out problems with build. Auradin/Avenger Paladin - L4E - 12-18-2005 casters dont lose casting speed when they are frozen, only if they are slowed by an item they lose casting speed (not sure how much) Auradin/Avenger Paladin - Insane-Ninja - 12-18-2005 Yeah dude I know that but Holy Freeze adds cold to your mercenary's damage. And whenhe attacks it will freeze the caster and it will acuse him to lose half his cast rate. And most casters don't bother to attack mercenarys they attack your character. It helps cause they don't notice until you have gotten then close enough to hit them. Auradin/Avenger Paladin - Insane-Ninja - 12-20-2005 So does anybody tested this character in a hero editor yet? If so can you fill me in one some details... like attack rating, defense rating, how much strength and dexterity needed for items. The important stuff ya know. Well thanks Auradin/Avenger Paladin - ArcaneSupremacy - 12-20-2005 I think a zeal build might work better with elemental auras. It will likely deal more damage per period of time than vengeance, while at the same time conserving mana. Fully synergized holy shock from double-Dream adds 1-5671 damage to your attack every hit, so for zeal's 5 hits, that's potentially 5-28355 damage, and then possibly doubled to 10-56710 for conviction's effect. If you want to get fancy, you could try using a Crescent Moon phase blade for the -35% lightning resist and a possibility of 4-frame zeal without fanaticism. That would require a total of 72% IAS, 20 of which comes from the weapon itself. Holy fire from Hand of Justice + Dragon, when fully synergized, adds 1200-1255 damage to your attack. It's a fair amount (though much lower than holy shock), but the lack of speed from that setup makes it a better choice on charge builds. I want something that people will be like "Wow sweet ass character man. It owns". Nobody says that when the get owned by a zealer. Its only by the alternative characters, like werebear sorceress, or singer barbarian. I wanted something more fun to make as well. Also in your calculations you forgot to consider the fact that vengance will also add about 600% lightning damage( fully synergized), 300% cold damage, and 450% fire damage. Thats in addition to your normal attack then your active aura damage is added on top of that and then the bonuses from conviction take place... Auradin/Avenger Paladin - Danyo - 12-20-2005 just whana tell u, that Iv encountered a a few auradins...as I duel pretty much. mostly, they charged around peaple intil they died, they never attak unless u got very litle life and they know u will die in 1 hit (which almost always is charge). 1 thing that I would think culd be pretty cool, would to make a "auradin", but using foh as main attak instead, then u culd run around, staying a bit from them, and let the aura make em die, and if they try attak u u blow them of with a foh and run away =P Auradin/Avenger Paladin - Insane-Ninja - 12-20-2005 HaHa...I like the Fist of Heavens idea.
