mods not working....help plz - frankwahl - 01-17-2006
i downloaded a mod that makes it so every 1000 xp u grow a level and gambling free...there is only one file when i dl the zip and its a .mpq . i put the file into my C:/programfiles/diablo II and when i run diablo none of the mods take place???
i have gotten one mod to work that makes it so monsters drop uniques

Basically, it just involves making a folder in your D2 directory (and name it the name of the mod), place the .mpq in that folder. After you do this create a shortcut of the Diablo II exe application file (the one with the Baal-looking icon with it), place the shortcut on your desktop (you can prolly put the shortcut anywhere you want, rename that icon the name of the mod, then go to its properties and change the "Start in" to the location of that folder (so it'll be "C:\Program Files\Diablo II\MOD NAME HERE"), making sure it stays in quotes. Also, you need to add the appropriate end to the "Target" space; make a space after the end quote and in this case you'll probably end up typing in "-direct -txt" (without the quotes). I believe the last pic or so in the tutorial that I listed above in the link shows an example of the Properties screen. Have fun and good luck.
