Blue Screen of Death new rig - Deadlyy-Guy - 02-14-2006

Hey guys, I just got all my new hardware assembled and i used my old hard drive which has windows 2k, now i know 2k is notorious for not recognizing new hardware cuz its old, but when i try to boot up my new system it gets to the windows loading screen, the bar gets about 1/2 full, and i get a blue screen of death. Any ideas on how i should get the new drivers onto the hard drive since it won't let me use the install cd on my old hardware?

about your old hard disk.. you mentioned that it had windows 2k. im assuming it has all the old hardware still on it. well when you want to use brand new hardware( assuming new mother board, processor, vid card, etc) you must install windows with it. i dont think you can just boot it up with the existing harddrive that has the old drivers and stuff. you must reformat the harddrive and install the windows with the new hardware. this should sort it out. i really think this the inly way b/c i've built two systems and ive had to reinstall windows each time. make sure you back up your stuff of course

no i just haven't had alot of time lately due to real life issues. like the fact that i lost my job 2 weeks ago. But i figured out the problem guys when you install new hardware you have to run repair from your windows CD so i did that and everything is peachy.
