Wii have a chance of stealing the market? - Metalhead Steve - 05-31-2006

The news of Wii's price being guaranteed under $250 I think it stands a big chance of stealing the market. Although it is not going to be HD compatible, it will have revolutionary gameplay opportunities along with the complete downloadable Nintendo library. With these developments I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way.

I do not have an HDTV and probably will not be able to afford one for a long time. Nor do I have the $300-600 for the 360 or PS3, so this is looking far more appealing to me than it did at first. I think that the market is going to be huge for the Wii, your thoughts?

its not going to steal the market, but it will do ok. probably would do even better if they left the name as revo instead of that dumbass wii

GOD NO! nintendo took way to long to produce the wii x360 and ps3 will blow it out of the water.

i guess i worded that wron sry, its just nintendo didnt have very many good games for gamecube and i dont know how the wii is going, ive heard their going back to cartridges ne1 kno 4 sure?

Nintendo stole the show at E3, I'm pretty sure Nintendo is going to do better then atleast one of the other systems.

Wii have a chance of stealing the market? - Bloodangel26 - 05-31-2006

you are right, nintendo did not support GC very well. i think theres already like 20 wii games announced, and its not even done yet. i do not think they are going back to cartridges, i think they are using the same minidisks like the GC. cartridges would severly dampen their ability to have quality graphics and game features

i dont kno about x360, since it was realeased way earlier than the ps3 and when the ps3 and wii come out all thats coming out for xbox is halo 3 that day, im defiantly gonig for ps3 because theyve got the best game series ever, and FFXII is coming out for the ps3 too Big Grin

Wii have a chance of stealing the market? - Bloodangel26 - 05-31-2006

nah the best game series ever is either all the mario bros games or the legend of zelda

Wii have a chance of stealing the market? - Arc - 05-31-2006

when did the wii steal the show? i was under the impression that xbox 360 dominated this years e3. they have had almost a year to fix the problems that the wii and the ps3 will run into .

Wii have a chance of stealing the market? - Bloodangel26 - 05-31-2006

except that wii and ps3 will fix them before they release the product...

Wii have a chance of stealing the market? - Arc - 05-31-2006

they have had a year to fix the problems that the wii and ps3 might not have on release because of the extra year of developement, but theres always a chance that sont and nintendo will run into problems as well

Wii have a chance of stealing the market? - Venom - 06-01-2006

doupt bit other than the ps3 nintendo always keep there systems in working order and are built to last! my old Gbc was run over by a car it has a scrached up side but other than that it was in working order and about the ffxII the demo of it is sweet you can let the monters duke it out then go in for the kill when they are weak and the intro for it nice

wii took e3 by far revealing so much stuff , the 30+ game selection also with the 20 years nintendo games, the price is great for what it gives and ssbb with snake and possably 3 more cross over chars, i am so totaly buying a wii

Yeh, I heard that Wii generated the longest line in the history of E3; good stuff.

A big reason that I saw Wii has a chance to steal the market is not only because of all the information in Venom's post above an the other reasons seen in this threads other posts, but also the system just reaches out to all different types of people. It's a new way to play the game, and it is easy enough that anybody, regardless of gaming experience, can pick up a controller and start playing. The Wii-mote helps to make believers out of anybody. If you havn't had a chance to check out all the creative and cool ways it will be able to be used, go check it out on ign or something. Make sure to check out the Warioware trailer for some new surprising ways that it can be used.

If you wanna take a look at some of the titles that'll be coming out at launch, check out http://revolution.ign.com/articles/709/709258p1.html

The reasoning why they changed the title to Wii is because for non-gamers, "Revolution" may sound too threatening (they had actually made the decision to change the name to Wii more than 6 months ago). Check out the full article here on this topic: http://revolution.ign.com/articles/709/709938p1.html

As for the size of the disks, Wii games will be the size of normal CD's, but the tray that holds it will also be able to hold the smaller Gamecube disks. It'll also take stuff like DVD's and such as well.

The name Wii sounds very........lame, to put it nicely. I liked Revolution better. I wonder why they changed it. Come on, what would sound better? "I have a Nintendo Revolution." Or "I play with my Wii!"?

Wii have a chance of stealing the market? - Bloodangel26 - 06-01-2006

"hay guyz i haf to go home to play wif my wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii"

someone said something about they changed the name to be more friendly to kids or something? i guess revolution is a big scary word....oh it was jedi that said that

oh well, i'm still probably going to buy it, and put tape over the name and write revolution...if i get some extra money(or can convince a family member to buy it for me for a bday or christmas present) i might get ps3 too

Wii have a chance of stealing the market? - CheshireCat - 06-01-2006

Lol, I really didn't see the info Jedi Posted. I'm kind of skimming because I'm in class at the moment. Hopefully one of my friends will buy one, so I can play it for a while to see how I like it before I go and spend the money.

Wii have a chance of stealing the market? - L4E - 06-01-2006

lol, i dunno if u guys saw the E3 conference for nintendo, but at some point the dude from ubisoft france comes, and he starts talking with like, the most heavy french accent, and hes talkin about that FPS game (looks fkin cool) and he says "u can even play gangstère style" i finally realised he meant u can hold ur gun sideways, after like a full 30 seconds -.-

well anyway, that was just a small anecdote...
the revolution is gonna kick ass for sure, not to mention zelda is comming out the same day the revolution is, generating sales for both NGC and the revolution.
At first, i truly thought the revolution would steal the market, till they changed the name to Wii, now its merely going to compete with the other systems, and id be surprised if it was in the lead. Wii is just not a word u say in civilised conversation unless ur using it as a pronoun..
