The 5 most useless items, EVER - El Matt - 04-26-2004 This is my opinion on the 5 most useless items Blizzard threw into Diablo. I don't think I've seen it anywhere, so I'm gonna say that this is an original work. Also, on this list, there isn't going to be stuff like; BoTD, BECUZ I CNAT GET 1!!!11!, it's going to be rational items that have absolutely no use what so ever. So, on to the list: 5.) Antidote Potion: Nobody uses these, so no wonder I put this up here. These are very much useless. The only good thing about them, is that they stop poison, and raise your resistance a little bit. But I asked around, and nobody knew that it raised resist. They just knew that it stopped poison during Baal runs. If you make your character right, you have no need for this. Plus, if you have 3k life with BO, poison isn't going to hurt much. 4.) Thawing Potion: Same as above, except it raises cold resistance and un-freezes you. If you have Raven Frosts, you won't ever use this. Low levels can't use Ravens yet can they? Who cares, they just wait out the freeze or get back to battle. Besides, there are some low level items that say, Freeze Duration Reduced by Half. So another useless item thrown into the game. 3.)Keys Ah, keys. Used for opening up locked chests. That's it. Yep. Blizzard could of least of added locked doors in the catacombs or any levels like that. Give the game some more twist. "Oh no I don't have a key, looks like I'll have to go to town." That would be interesting to see in action. Assassins could also have more use party-wise, because they don't need keys to unlock doors. So instead of 5 Barbs and 3 sorcs in a party, there are 5 Barbs, 2 Sorcs, and an Assassin. More people would make trappers though. Add some twists Blizzard, please? 2.)Gems You're probably thinking, "What? I use gems all the time!" Well, some gems are useful, like Perfect Diamonds in shields, or Perfect Topazes in Helms and Armor. But those are pretty much the only gems used right now. Skulls are useless because people use weapons with leech and Vamp Gaze now. Amethysts are useless because nobody needs strength, except for low levels. Same with Saphires, except it gives mana and low cold damage. I see rubies in helms every once in a while, but only for life. Emeralds are useless because of the 290. Either add more 'kick' to gems, or add more is my solution. 1.)Ears I think everyone can agree with me, ears suck. I mean, you pick them up when you are trying to lay the smackdown on a 93 barb, then wham! You're as dead as a doornail. Then you try to go get your lifeless corpse and you pick up a whole inventory of them. And when you start getting rid of them, SMACKED'D! You're dead again. This chain repeats until you either leave the game, or gain some sense and drop them in town. But if you drop them, the process happens again. At least add a real cool twist like if you die once, a speaker goes out. You die twice and you can't hear anything at all. Die a third time, and something weird happens, because normal people don't have 3 ears. Or give other people's ears magic abilities and you um... wear them. Or make it so you have to MAKE a String of Ears. Example, 9 ears and a sash (any kind)+cube=String of Ears. Just don't make them a trophy that nobody needs, because who needs a trophy when you can call him a lewz0r ****? The 5 most useless items, EVER - jedimaster86 - 04-26-2004 Antidote Potions- i guess i will have to agree with you as i dont feel like buying them or picking them up and using all that effort to add some resistance. Thawing Potion- i'll have to agree with you; same reason as antidote pots. Keys- I like the idea of having them add locked doors, perhaps they could have different types of keys out there, ok mayb not that'd prob reduce inventory space. guess the makers of these claim they are "one size fits all"..... Gems- this is the first one on the list that i believe i disagree with you. gems are very important for pretty much all of the crafting recipes, which can turn out some great items, based on ur char lvl. Ears- i guess so, like the idea for the string of ears. i don't PvP, so i never have any prob w/ears... The 5 most useless items, EVER - El Matt - 04-26-2004 On your response to gems, I knew about crafting, forgot about that. I was thinking when I wrote this in a more direct kind of way. Like just the gems themselves The 5 most useless items, EVER - jedimaster86 - 04-26-2004 ah, i see what you mean. sorry bout that. i guess they are not as useful as other items, but then i would prob place it as # 5 if you were doing a countdown kind of thing with #1 being the MOST useless item.sometimes people place gems in items for their merc if they really want them to use that item. actually i guess not, that was just me saying that...... The 5 most useless items, EVER - Shihan - 04-26-2004 Whee, nice list, but gems are useful for transmuting runes. The 5 most useless items, EVER - El Matt - 04-26-2004 No need to be sorry, but my opinion is that gems are a waste of time in my book, since I don't use mercs. I use antidote potions a lot more than gems, so its a list of how much I use and uselessness. The 5 most useless items, EVER - Lycshiftz - 04-26-2004 1) Ears: Pointless who cares who you killed. 2) 290s: So what pallys are good with em. 3) Stamina: Pointless.... 4) Occulus: Makes you tele everywhere... Its like lag just no benefits. 5) Mercenaries: *i know its not an item* Mercs are a waste of memory.... The 5 most useless items, EVER - El Matt - 04-26-2004 Stamina potions are my best friend with my sorc and my low level duelers. 290s don't bug me, Occy is annoying, but very useful. The 5 most useless items, EVER - MannyJabrielle - 04-26-2004 Stamina potions are usefull at low levels. Granted it doesn't take long to get enough stamina to where you can run straight from town to act boss without having to stop really, but still... characters don't start out that way... Besides... it's nice having your own minor shrine of stamina in your beltslot. 4 of them come out to about the same duration as a shrine I think, just counting the time your stamina meter is is blue So my list would be: Keys - yeah... why bother? Maybe even without the locked doors idea... if the locked chests actually had something noticably better a majority of the time... Ears - You can't even eat them. Tome of Identify - Why bother? TP to Cain, ID everything you are carrying in one step, stash/sell, return to critterland. Kahlim's Flail ingrediants - Ok, wow, yes, the cube makes junk. We learned that in Act II... where at least the component items had a use too (granted the staff of kings and viper amulet were rather weak). Perhaps if there was an alternative use to the brain and heart and eye... charm-like effects maybe? I dunno... three items to run around for on top of the flail itself... Act III is a pain in the backside as is... Ana's Act V Anti-Freeze. Do we really need to make n extra TP trip for this? Find her, click on her to free her like with Cain, go get the reward. The 5 most useless items, EVER - k_dash22 - 04-27-2004 you know what- very good point... taken! The 5 most useless items, EVER - Gaz_321 - 04-27-2004 frankly i think your all wrong coz i use THAWING pots , KEYS , ears are good for pvpers , erm if u say gems are useless ur obviously a noob and antidote pots r very useful as they stop the need to have to tp to town to stop ***in poison. btw whoever it was who said occu, 290's, and merc are the most useless item in the game , sry but i HAVE to flame u COZ UR A TOTAL NOOOB so dont post on wat u dont hav a clue on. btw heres 5 most useless items: 1) hodrodric scroll 2) Nef rune 3) Guillaumes face (orphane calls helm) as only a noob would use this. 4) Ironpelt 5) skin of the flayed one. The 5 most useless items, EVER - willibomb - 04-27-2004 cracked anything.... I found a one-socketed cracked club that was ethereal. I'm selling if for 50 bucks... hell of a deal. lol BTW how does something ethereal get a crack? The 5 most useless items, EVER - Bonk - 04-27-2004 That's as good as an Etherical demonhide Sash I have that repairs itself 1 pt every 30 seconds.... talk about oxymoron. The 5 most useless items, EVER - Bonk - 04-27-2004 I'd add crafted items to the list. The orange writing looks like a hack and the mods aren't good enought to warrant the effort. The 5 most useless items, EVER - MannyJabrielle - 04-27-2004 Caster items are good for sorc's who haven't gotten hold of better items. The 5 most useless items, EVER - FarvaRules - 04-27-2004 Crafted items are definitely not one of the worst items in the game...as a matter of fact, theres crafted ammy's that are better than a majority of the rare and unique ammy's. The 5 most useless items, EVER - Gaz_321 - 04-27-2004 crafted items stats vary alot, some of the best items of their class in the game (mains boots and gloves) are crafted items The 5 most useless items, EVER - Wintermute - 04-27-2004 Anything that can be bought with gold cept potions ![]() The 5 most useless items, EVER - El Matt - 04-27-2004 Ok, on the part with gems, it makes me sound like a ****** and stuff, but when I was typing it, I was thinking of the abilities-how much I use them factor. And how are ears useful for PvP? They just add more lag. The 5 most useless items, EVER - MannyJabrielle - 04-27-2004 Laggin the other person, corpse-crowding if you like the smack naked people around, two reasons I can think of off hand, although I don't PVP, and I'd think those two reasons would be rather dirty-fighting |
