help with new router - mi_ninja - 10-06-2006 hey i need help with a new wired router i have. it isnt a wireless and it is a DYNEX DX-E401. hope that helps. im trying to get my download speeds back to where they where. the box says that it allows up to 100mbps. and i go to my network config and it says that i have a 100mbps connection. but when i go to download with azureus i only download at about 1kbs. i first thought that it was that torrent then it looked and tryed many others. same resualts. then i tryed to play steam it wont let me connect to steam server(the main one).so i tried to go to halo it wont let me connect to the game servers. i just got this router today and just put it in. it lets me go on line but just not play my games. plzz i need help.im losing my mind without my games lol. help with new router - wm_hunter - 10-07-2006 You will need to forward the ports to get decent speeds in bit torrent. You MAY need to forward ports for steam as well but it seems odd that it would have such issues without the forwarded ports. Do you see any disimporovement in web page loading time? If you do not, then the issue is almost definitally an overly-protective firewall packer filter. help with new router - mi_ninja - 10-07-2006 ok guys i have done some looking on google for like 5 hours and figured out how to use dmz. i tryed to use it i set the dmz for my comps ip but i still get the same problem. so i unhooked the router all together and hook right into the modem then i can get on steam and halo and my wow(i am using private servers lol which i need to hook into lacd). but as soon as i hook up my router i get cant connect to all of them. plz help me im pulling out my hair.lol help with new router - trayne - 10-07-2006 you have to add port numbers to your router to forward. PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall port forward has a list of games and applications that use certain tcp and udp ports and it will also show you how to put them on your router. help with new router - wm_hunter - 10-07-2006 I wrote the reply originally at school and I did not have access to my bookmarks on good sites. I have had nothing but good experiances with PortForward.com You may also want to check the support section on the router manufactuer home page. I know in the case of mine (D-Link) they have a good section on port forwarding including version-specific guides and guides on popular forwards (like Steam). help with new router - mi_ninja - 10-08-2006 ok guys. im still lost. i whent to that website. they said that my router dont have access to the right ports, or some thing like that. they told me to us dmz. well i did and i put my ip to the right one. i still cant get steam open. omg im going to blow this pice of s!ht up. lol help with new router - wm_hunter - 10-09-2006 Well, I don't really know how to help you with that.. Did you buy it from a place where you can get your money back? There are a few reliable and easy to configure routers, including Dlink and LinkSys. Getting one of those for around the same price will make it far easier for you. help with new router - The Mob - 10-09-2006 wow... why would it tell you to manually set up a dynamic ip address? the documentation looks good from a glance, but i dont think that you needa do all of that stuff. steam and other programs dont usally need to be port forwarded, maybe utorrent but thats it. i use steam myself and i dont need to forward it. try reseting the whole router useing the manual reset button on it. if that doesnt work, go into your router and disable the firewall useing the documentation.. i linked it for ya so you dont have to search for it thats pretty much all i can think of help with new router - wm_hunter - 10-11-2006 I know Mob, steam should not be totally blocked from accessing the internet, but it may just be the case of an over-protective router that is causing this problem... Anyway, get back to us and see if any of the advice has helped. help with new router - mi_ninja - 10-11-2006 ok i know this makes no sense, belive me it dont to me nither. i couldnt figure out how to turn the firewall off totally. so i kinda gave up. well my roommate wonted me to reformate his hd and reinstall xp.i did and then i started up his comp. then i get everything installed for him. i came home today from work. and his ass was playing cs. but i whent to my comp with my hopes high and i still cant connect. he can. wtf? we are doth on the same router. that is y we have it. help with new router - The Mob - 10-11-2006 LOL. it looks like it is your computer's problem then.. check your window's firewall settings, or any other firewall program that you may be using. help with new router - mi_ninja - 10-13-2006 ok not im getting pissed. i just reformated my hd and i still get the same problem. ok i turned my firewall off and tryed to turn the firewall off the router. i still cant get it to turn the router firewall off. can eather of u two figure it out and help me. plzzz. ill give it one more try. help with new router - The Mob - 10-13-2006 hmmm... well my only suggestion is to look at what your friend did. also, what operating system are you using? b/c i doubt that it is the router's fault if your friend can access steam and stuff. there must be something wrong with your computer help with new router - mi_ninja - 10-13-2006 ok i reformated both of our hds. and i set them up both the same. i dont understand wtf is going on. im so lost. ill try to look and see if anything is different. help with new router - The Mob - 10-13-2006 wm_hunter, do you think that he may have a hardware issue? like his lan card broke or something? help with new router - DrakeAldo - 04-12-2007 well wtf, im having same problem d2 works for me now (after about 9 horus on port forwarding website) But d2loaders being stupid anyone know if it takes anymore ports to be opend to use d2loader? i have a lynksis WRT54GS router and i just wanna disable the firewall on it to allow everything, i have a firewall on my computer for a reason, dont need this BS one on router thats just giving me problems. help with new router - Dan - 04-12-2007 go to your routers setup screen (usually something like 192.168.0.1) and select firewall, turn it off. help with new router - DrakeAldo - 04-12-2007 Lol your a ****ing genious... you think i havent tryed that yet? theres no option to turn it off... help with new router - Dan - 04-12-2007 lol? why didnt you ****ing say that then. have fun figuring this out jackass. help with new router - DrakeAldo - 04-12-2007 i thought it was made clear that i was in my router setup, ive opened the necessary ports for d2 but my guess is d2loader requrires additional ports to be opened, because its acting just like d2 did when i couldent connect because of router. |
