Pretty neat image and tutorial. I've got 7.0 too, but I mainly use it for editing photos. I also have PSP 7 and i use that for experiments sometimes. The ultimate tools are in your hands if you use both to create something.
Here's a tutorial for seperating a face or object from a photo.
1. Create a new document and paste the image you want to edit (it automatically sets up the size of the image if you copy before creating a new document) or open a previous one.
2. Click the FILTER menu at the top and then click EXTRACT.
3. I prefer 5 pt and smart highlighting, but you can do whatever you want.
4. Then draw around the face or object you want to cut out. Make sure you close the shape by drawing back to where you started.
5. Then click the paint bucket and fill the area you want cut out.
6. Click the PREVIEW button to see how you did and if you like it, click OK.
7. Then you can paste another image or use a copy of the one you just cut from and place the face or object where you want it.
Also another thing is that filters are your new friends. By combining different filters, you can make your work seem way better than it originally is.
This topic should change into a database of tutorials. It would benefit a lot of people with this software.
