any one know a good technical metal band that plays instrumentals, meaning no singer?

Metal Discussion~ - Metalhead Steve - 01-31-2007

Transylvania by Iron Maiden? Not many straight instrumental bands out... None that I know of that aren't just guys jamming. At least not metal bands. You should listen to Dream Theater or something like that if you want technical. Honestly I have been getting alot into thrash lately.

Chuck Schuldiner.
Derek Sherinian.
I'll post a few more when I can think of some.

Victor Wooten is an excellent technical bassist... Check him out if you want to hear some amazing bass playing.

Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Yngwie Malmsteen, Dream Theater, Michael Angelo Batio, There solo guitar, ists and dont really fit the metal scheme but some of there stuff or songs get kind of heavy depending on who you are listening to but i can tell you theres not much singing in those people i listed above

Everything John 5 (John Lowery) does is instrumental, he has a bunch of different styles, like Heavier to blues to folk-ish. He plays all the instruments in the song besides the drums.

There is one song by Godsmack, Vampires that has hardly any voiceing in it. Mostly drums and guitar.

Also, Genghis Tron does some killer instrumentals although i'm not quite sure if that's what you're looking for. On the other side of the spectrum, ala' non-metal, check out Gov't Mule. I can attest that not only studio but live they put on shows beyond control. Also, if you're into it, anything considered 'Jam,' is pretty much all instrumentals. If you're on OiNK, check out almost any live Grateful Dead show.

Metal has gems as far as instrumentals go but there's so much more beyond the genre boundry.

i'm uploading 'whitewash,' off of the album colma by buckethead. i think it's one of my favorite instrumentals ever.... no upload, megaupload glitched. i'll send you the whole album if you want it.

Buckethead, perfect answer... Man he is ****ing nuts.

To me, he's not only nuts but he's also soulful. I will probably receive flame for this, but Steve Vai is one of my favorite guitars.. technically.

Everything that he does seems technically pushed and without much emotion or heart. He is a great guitar player and he can do it all, but when I listen to a song I want to FEEL it, not just hear it. A good example to compare/contrast would be "For the Love of God," by Vai and "Goodbye to Romance." If you have my same mindframe, you'll understand.

Bucketheads music sounds almost robotic the way he plays it, at least thats how it is to me.

Metal Discussion~ - Fuggle - 02-03-2007

Jordan is like the hardest song on Guitar Hero 2 lol, damn you Buckethead, damn you!

Metal Discussion~ - Metalhead Steve - 02-04-2007

Why don't you pick up a real guitar? Better yet a bass... Theres not many bassists in the world.

Metal Discussion~ - Fuggle - 02-04-2007

Uhh.. I do play guitar... I can play most of the songs in the game (on a real guitar), it's not so I can be like ZOMG I RZ LIEK A REEL GEETAWR PLAYUR. Why do you play Diablo and not go kill people in real life? Same situation, it's entertainment.

Metal Discussion~ - Pamela - 02-04-2007

I usually stare at real guitars and nod as people explain things. All my family is quite gifted with instumental talent. I ,however, got the singing voice and do not play an instument in any serious manner. The piano and organ I toy with on occasion.

Ok I know what that looks like and i am waiting for Fuggy to reply.

Metal Discussion~ - Fuggle - 02-04-2007

You are typing like you are drunk.
I can play a lot of instruments myself, Guitar, Bass, Piano, I can at least keep a beat with drums.

Metal Discussion~ - Pamela - 02-04-2007

I am on 8 IMs ya little cat face! My typing has always sucked!
