I heard that an item will only poof if their is another copy of that item in the game. So if I had a duped griffs, and played only private games for a while, would it poof?

Yes it can because of a passive Ruststorm.

that would be my guess but i'm not sure. i know for a fact items can and will poof in games that you're the only person in.

the best advice would be to shoot for an abscure stat, preferably a game someone else created. on d2jsp you have to state to the best of your knowledge if your item is perm or unperm, and those who lie get a scammer tag.
