Here in Central Pennsylvania, we had about 4 inches of snow, a little ice, an freezing rain. They closed schools now, 2 days in a row...over FOUR inches of snow. How bad/good is it where ya'll live?devilish:

A little cool here, just broke 41, but sunny. Gotta love FL. I don't miss all the snow and work that went with it when I lived in NH.

65 degrees and your bitching about cold ?!?!?!?!?! I envy you man.

It is freakin cold but I can say I am glad I don't live in NY, they have like 10-12 feet of snow. I'm in KS btw.

i live in central ny and we got like 3 feet

How is it, where you are? - Metalhead Steve - 02-16-2007

It is that bad in like northern NY or something right? I remember seeing stuff about it on the news.

We have had snow in South Dakota for a month or so now, however its ****ING freezing out.

Well, here in Cali it's been warm/hot :p

@TarT same goes for me, California is always pretty warm.

Lol in south africa its 30degress Celesius

How is it, where you are? - Blue - 02-16-2007

in wisconsin its like 5 - 0 degress celsius.
f = 9/5 c + 32 so
9/5 of -5 = 9 degrees. so subtract maybe 1 or 2... this was for frogman
otherwise my temp is between -20 and 20 degrees Fahrenheit. in Greenbay, Wi

Actually, its 8/5ths, not 9/5ths. Hes saying its about 100F degrees there, I believe.

Remember water boils at 212 F and 100 C, so you can always check your method with that.

How is it, where you are? - Blue - 02-16-2007

no it isnt. physical science basics. its 9/5. look it up again. hes actually saying its 86 degrees

How is it, where you are? - Fykins - 02-16-2007

Hmmm your right, funny, I was still able to convert 100 to 212 with that equation.
  • How to approximate the conversion of Fahrenheit temperatures to Celsius with mental math.
  • Subtract 32o to adjust for the offset in the Fahrenheit scale.
  • Divide the Celsius temperature by 2 (multiply by 0.5).
  • Take 1/10 of this number (0.5 * 1/10 = 0.05) and add it from the number above.
  • Example: convert 98.6o F to Celsius.
    98.6 - 32 = 66.6
    66.6 * 1/2 = 33.3
    33.3 * 1/10 = 3.3
33.3 + 3.3 = 36.6 which is an approximation of the Celsius temperature

W/e we are getting off topic so lets go on.

How is it, where you are? - Blue - 02-16-2007

yeah but celsius units increase alot more than F
between freezing point and boiling point of water is 212 degrees fahrenheit
however its only 100 with celsius.
so take 30 degress celsius.
9/5 * 30/1
cross cancel 5 and 30 (divide by 5)
so then its
9/1 * 6/1 = 54 + 32 = 86.

but to get back on conversation, we had more cold than snow. the we got a heat wave. so it was 1 day off with -30 F then 2 hour delay with -10 and then nothing else because of our heatwave. we probably only have about 4-6 inches and the most we had might of been 8 inches.

How is it, where you are? - Fykins - 02-16-2007

My school was also an hour late one day because it was so cold.
