only 2 80gb hds??
or are those the ones that have 10K rpm?

rate this pc - Dan - 02-23-2007

since it says 7200rpm... no they are not 10k rpm

go with some 80 or 120 gb 10k raptors ^_^

rate this pc - skidude - 02-23-2007

i will never use more then 20gb on this pc... it will be a pure gaming pc :p

rate this pc - Dan - 02-23-2007

considering how new games take up 4+ gb each... i doubt that Tongue

rate this pc - skidude - 02-23-2007

i think i will only run 1 maybe 2 games off it eek:

rate this pc - The Mob - 02-24-2007

hmmm..
if your going to build one purely for gaming, i definitely recommend the 10k rpm ones. decreases load time and in general would be way better.
oh btw, what OS you going to use?

rate this pc - skidude - 02-24-2007

i have not seen any SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drives that have over 7200 rpm and i run windows xp pro

rate this pc - Mathalamus - 02-24-2007

get vista...

oh wait bad idea, nvm

rate this pc - skidude - 02-25-2007

vista is a good os but it still has alot of bugs... just like every os that gets released confused: they are already working to fix the bugs in the os

Get a 16mb cache for your hdd, for gaming its proven the amd X2 is much better something like a 5000+ is cool and cheaper and ditch the two ati and get two gerforce 7600gt cards sli also proven to be a better buy.

rate this pc - The Mob - 02-25-2007

hehehe.. ya..
nvida all the way
here is a link to the 10K HD with 16mb cache

rate this pc - skidude - 02-25-2007

The power supply is over board i have pretty much the same system and 600watt is more than enough(help to save money maybe go for 700watt)

Would still by say one sata II hdd with 16mb cache as these are not a problem to run as they don't suffer from raid problems as before the card is great although i am not a fan of leadtek products also hoping that you will go with sli'ing two 8800gtx otherwise stick to something that you can buy two of or hopefully that model will be around for awhile so you can by two.

Ram is great it what i am running

rate this pc - The Mob - 02-26-2007

i think that sli-ing two 8800 woulld be over kill
hell, i think that even having one 8800 is overkill lol
well it just depends on your budget, and how hard core of a gamer you are

rate this pc - Tool - 02-26-2007

Don't listen to these fools. Don't do SLI, just use the one 8800 you have in mind right now. Benchmarks show it performs equivalently to 7900s running SLI and 1950s running CrossFire.

Also, that 5200 doesn't compare to a 6600 Core 2. Trust me, go Core 2, preferably 6600, if not 6400 still kicks that 5200's ass. Even the 6000 that was just released can't compete with the Core 2s yet.

rate this pc - FrogMan - 02-28-2007

Whatever when it comes to gaming intel can eat amd's dust.

rate this pc - Dan - 03-01-2007

frog you have an amd x2 4800 right? right now my pentium D (lol) is getting the same benchmarks as that proc.

rate this pc - FrogMan - 03-01-2007

i have the 5000+ but benchmarking compared to what? what benchmark tests?

I seriously hate Tech Forum...yall give me braincramps.-Pamela

Could you get a little better of a processor, I thought they made Core 2 Duo's with each core clocked at like 2-2.8 GHz. Rest is good, but don't fill those hard drives up with porn now kk? You know you can get a 250 gb hard drive for like $80 bucks right?

EDIT: Nvm I just looked it up and I could only find Core 2 E6300's with that same processor speed, but I'd just go with AMD then.
