Hey guys, I havent posted in serveral weeks because i was repairing and upgradin a lot of computer for FREE lol. well i was wonderin instead of doing it for free i mine as well get paid for it, so my question is what kind of qualifications is needed for a Computer Repair Worker? Im only in grade 12 but i am excited to learn more about computers then i already know. any help would be greatly appricaited.

Are you looking to be hired somewhere??? Or just doing it out of your home. I mean you don't really need anything if your just doing it out of your home to repair peoples computers. To get hired somewhere you would either need an apretenceship somewhere. You can pretty much go to any used computer store and ask to hang around and help out and learn about computers. At least in Ohio you can. I learned how to work on computers by working at a computer repair store. Got payed real shitty but hey i learned a lot. At some big companies i would say you need to go to college. But you didn't really elaberate on your first post if you wanted to go somewhere to repair or just do it as a side job.

yes, im lookin to be hired somewhere, i put one in at " Beyond Techtronics" and they said they are hiring in a month and the only thing they reccommend but font require is A+ programing which i dont have, then he also said he would give me a call in amonth to see if im still interested. WooT

to my understanding, you need to pass some sort of test in order to even be considered for a job like "The Geek Squad". however, imo most of the stuff that they do are formating and installing hardware. i dont think that the test will be very hard. a community college crash course in computer certification might be useful.

i dont need college to get a pc job, i have lots of knowledge, altho smoe places do require a college digree, i know future shop does require A+ cert. and i heard it costs about 300$ correct?

i've built computers for people making ~75-100$ profit freelance. since you're still a senior i'd suggest you just do it under the table right now and then go to school to get certified to be an official tech or get a business degree.. whatever. there's a lot of money to be made, and it's not like the tax police are going to get onto a 17 year old kid for building computers. on that note, i actually built a computer for a local cop.. heh

the people in my town a re so cheap, if they break there comp they just throw it out im gueesin, maybe i should just put a add in the papper for takin people unused computers and parts and build new ones and sell em. BTW i just thought my cousin is a computer tech i should probly tell him to hook me up with a job lol. but its a good idea to do freelance, its going to be a couple of weeks before i go get my certification.

dude trust me, you do NOT know enough for an A+ cert. You would fail the test and maybe have 4 questions right baised on luck.

ok that was a little harsh, you'd get a few right, but it goes beyond putting graphics cards in and defraging computers.
