Help...Error - grey lizard - 04-15-2007 Hi.I am a fresher out here.I recentely upgraded my pc.I have installed diablo II. It does not run but gives an error message..." unhandled exception:access violation (c0000005)".it was working well on my old pc.please help.thanx Help...Error - Blue - 04-15-2007 brb, imma try and find this error problem solution for you on blizzards site. i saw it there before Receiving an Unhandled Exception Error during game launch or while actually playing can be caused by a few problems. As always, please patch the game first. The patch includes several fixes that may correct this type of error. You can patch the game by connecting to Battle.net for the auto-patch or you can download and run the stand-alone patch from our patch page at Blizzard Entertainment - Patch Page. After installing the patch, please reboot your computer and test the game again. If the patch does not correct the problem, please follow the steps below. The first step is to reinstall the game, but before reinstalling, you may want to back up your single-player character files. These files are stored in the Diablo II\Save\ folder on your hard drive. The character files have the same name as the character. Save these files to another directory or to a floppy disk and then restore them once you have reinstalled the game. Uninstall Diablo II by going to Start, Programs, Diablo II, and choose Uninstall Diablo II. Once the game is uninstalled you can delete the Diablo II folder from your hard drive. Now, run a thorough scandisk and defrag of your hard drive(s). You will probably find it helpful to disable your screen saver and power management features before you scandisk or defrag. Sometimes Windows will restart the defragmentation and/or scandisk if your screen saver or power management kicks in. (Windows 98/Me)
Once again, please patch the game. You can patch the game by connecting to Battle.net for the auto-patch or you can download and run the stand-alone patch from our patch page at http://www.blizzard.com/patches/. Update your Video Drivers If you still get any errors, you should try updating DirectX and your video and sound card drivers. Even if you are sure that your drivers are up to date, you should double check by visiting the manufacturer's website. For instruction on how to identify your DirectX version and video card model/drivers, please visit our web site at: http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=msi0371p. Once you have identified your DirectX version and your video card, you can then update each. Check if your system is overheating or overclocked If your system is overclocked it may be producing too much heat which will adversely affect program performance. If the system is producing high amounts of heat but is not overclocked, we would suggest you add a fan to your system to help ventilate and cool the case. Remove "New.net Application" from Add/Remove programs Open control panel by going to Start, Settings, then Control Panel. Double click on Add/Remove Programs, and look for the program called New.net. If you find this application, please remove it. Email Technical Support If you still get errors, please email [email protected] with a detailed description of the steps already taken. Also please attach the files described below: Please look in your Diablo II folder for any files that begin with D2 and end in .txt. To clarify, we want any file that looks like D2debug.txt, or D2nnnnnn.txt (n=number). Attach any error logs along with two files, your dxdiag.txt and msinfo.txt, for further diagnosis. To obtain the systems diagnostic files, follow the instructions below: Important Note: Please reboot your system prior to creating the dxdiag and msinfo files.
