Don't say hellsforge, that is obvious, what I mean is I did hellforge and I dont have any characters that can rush hell in exchange for forge, so is there monster that actually drops runes? Just curious, if there isn't let me know, thanks.

I gotta go for council members, best place. I've found all my runes from them, and while your there you can kill mephi as well. win/win situation. Also Countess is cold/fire immune which'll drive you nuts.

Flying monsters have a 4 time greater chance to drop runes then any other monsters.
The Armourer guy ( i mean in act 4 near the forge) can apparently drop a zod.
Cow levels can be a decent source of runes as well.
Thing with runes is that its damn near impossible to get high rune drops, If you want to get rich, Farm, collect every single rune you get and farm. Effectively if you play often enough you should be fairly well off in around 6 months, yeah its a damn long process.

Its not really a rumour nor is it an official thing or anything, its more like collected observations and what some people believe. I dont remember where i got it from.

i think a prob with that is that you almost always have a guaranteed chance of finding some rune from countess. you do not always have that chance from council, and there are times when the council may have cold/fire immune or cold/fire enchanted. countess is pretty easy to get to, just go through 5 pretty small levels, and you're there, and their in act 1 so it'll prob be easier to get through. i guess it's just a matter of what char u are using, even if she is cold/fire immune a barb really wouldn't care bout that at all. the best rune i've gotten off countess is an Ist, i'm doing 100 runs to see what kind of stuff i get, unfortunately i havn't been able to play in a little while but i'll get back to it. i guess then if u are a char like a sorc or something, you would hate doing countess and would much rather do council, but i sometimes like doing countess runs since i have like a whopping 13 mf on my char, and i don't care bout mf for rune runs since it doesn't affect the rune drop

yeah jedi's got a point, although an ist of countess is pretty rare, i think, speaking from personal experiences and those of my friends, council is the best way to go, taking them on the way to meph w/a mf fire sorc (just happens to be what i use, doesn't affect rune drop -_- in case that didn't come out right) gets you decent drops, especially because the runs are so fast.. with meph AND council i run about 50-60 second hell meph runs... and it's not a bad trade off, sure i can do just meph at about 35 seconds.. but meph hardly EVER drops decent runes... and on the other hand, the council often drop quite nice jewels.. it's where i get all mine, a 40/7max, a 40/7str, a 40/9dex, and runes too, ber, vex, gul, ist.. all the goodies... (tho i don't believe they can drop zod.. i'll check the lvl tables)

And the good thing for coucil runs for runes is that u will never get lost trying to find em...just tele there or walk there...you wont get lost and dun need mh for it...while countess,u might spend some time trying to find your way there...

ya iv noticed that countess sucks 5/6 times itll be 2 els taht get droped but counicl is always good to kill gotten 2 gheeds a hoz and a shako off em

At least with the council members, they are never immune to cold, it's just the council leader (can't think of his name) that can be. I've found a total of about 26 runes above Lum since I've been playing the 1.10 patch.

I guess it would be easier just to say what runes I need, I need about 8 ist runes, I just restarted an expired MF sorc, shes up to 78, guess blizz hates me because they expired her at 93 and I had to delete and remake now shes a fireball/meteor sorc with frozen orb as secondary element. Mf... *cough cough cough* BARELY reaching 400 (if that and i'm pushing it to say if its even that high because I haven't calculated it completely) So I need to get serious boon here in the MF department, we're talkin 8 ist runes, 6 for a 6soc phaseblade, and 4 for a 4 soc monarch. (both of these items I don't have yet either to put the runes in haha) Then I can MF for a Shako and stick either another ist in or put a P.Topaz in. THEN I have to mf for some MF rings and some various other mf gear, yeah I got a hell of a long road ahead of me unless some of you rich people with like 2 or 3 of the same thing wanna donate
Damn shame my other sorc got expired though, she was loaded with mf gears 
Losing her and all my other high level characters was a serious blow because now I have to collect every damn thing again and its just gonna be that much harder with close to no MF.

You don't need that many. Check out this guide, but just ignore the "idiot's guide to MF" part lol. It's aimed at new players. But the equipment might help, and I even added a .d2s file so you can test her out.

The whole point in wearing Tals belt is that you get another 65%mf from partial tals bonus, once you get a shako make sure you use it. Chancies, Wizardspike and Nagels are easy to get. I usually throw that kinda stuff away. You got the hard bits, the armour, amulet.
The key to good MF is repetition... screw your MF, you'll find stuff with or without it.

You throw it away? don't throw it away give it to me!! :p And I still get the partial set bonus cuz I have the mask, so switching out the belt doesn't take that away. I need shako, chances and wartravs and i'll be set for a while the hard part are finding ist runes which i cant seem to find at all
