Sometimes it seems like my corpse explosion does no damage when other monsters are within the area of effect. Also, if the skill does 60-100 of the corpses life as damage then why doesn't 2 cps automatically kill a monster of the same type? I've invested so many skills in cp and at times it seems useless as it doesn't seem to do damage.

What difficulty are we talking about here? Cause normally you'd Amp damage them to add extra damage on top of the Corpse Explosion damage.. That's what I used to do..

Well corpse explosion is 50/50% (physical/fire damage). So if your fighting something that has a natural fire immunity, there are resists involved in your damage output.
