Kazzer smiter guide AGAIN! - kazzer - 06-05-2007 Kazzer Smiter guide Again!
This is yet another attempt at a smiter guide. I find that most people think that Smiters are cheap and easy to use because of the 95% chance to hit the opponent regardless of defense. I say that those people are nubs >

Resist lightning and resist cold should be 10 in each but you may add more if you plan on going to a higher lvl than I used. Holy fire and holy freeze can be ignored, that way you can finish this character at lvl 88 instead of 90.
Gear:
Armor: Enigma dusk, ap, wire, wyrm, scarab (Use this if you are SCL on all realms). Btals soc with cham or 40/15 (Use this on east SCNL)
Notes: The strength from enigma will help equip items like CoA much easier although the versatility of bugged tals grants the user the ability to change items such as Shako, CoA, and Kiras for some pvm action.
Weapon: Grief PB or Zerker. If you cannot afford this on NL or L then stop reading...
Notes: The extra 400 Damage from Grief adds to the base damage of your shield. Example; the damage on a plain zaka would be 45-45 but with grief it is 445-445 then any ED% from non weapon items or skills is used just as it would for a barbs WW.

The reason for using a Grief Zerker for PvP is because the extra range helps A LOT, that extra 1 casting yard to range makes it possible to hit a barb that tries to clip you with their WW. Also in Smite vs. smite it's possible to get first hit and Cause knock back before the one using a Grief Pb can strike.
Shield: up'd Ber/Cham/Jah Hoz. Exile only in BM pub games. Spirit sac targe (for tele smite)
Notes: People believe that the smite damage from a Hoz is better than the smite damage from a V Exile, the reason for this is the damage from a Hoz is much, much more consistent and will do almost the same amount of damage every time, rather than doing 2k-3.5k you would be doing about 3.2k-3.2k (on screen damage that is).

The reasons for using a sacred targe is the low strength req and the fact it has the highest base block of any of the elite paladin shields.
Boots: Shadow dancers, Imps (west scnl), wraiths (east scnl)
Notes: Some of you may be wondering, "why use shadow dancers on a smiter???" and the reasons are the 30% faster hit recovery, 25 dexterity which does help to getting that max block without even adding to dex, and lastly the 30% faster run/walk speed.
belts: Dungos, Bugbelt (Europe scnl)
Notes: Bugbelt is a Europe only Bugged item that is pretty much a mix between nos, dungos, and arach. It is very good to have in NL but many people may complain about it not being a legit 1.11 item.
rings: raven/rare w/ str, dex, res, 10 fcr.ammy: maras Helms: Shako ber/jah/cham, Coa berber. gloves: Blood fists, trangs. charms: 2-4 pcombs, torch, anni, 25-31 res/life charms. preferably 6-10x 11 cold res/life, 6-10x 11 lit res/life, rest 20 all res charms. Switch: 4+ bo Cta, Normal pala spirit lowest Quality fcr would be best.
Notes:The only reason for the lowest FCR paladin spirit is because it's not too expensive.
Set ups:

These are for pub dueling so don't expect them to work 100% on decent duelers. If you plan on dueling skilled players get practicing and figure out your own strategies.
Sorceress
Lighting sorcs: This is a basic charge/smite duel. No matter which of the builds above you have you should be able to tank a few lightning bolts and kill the sorc before you die. If not then you didn't build this char right and should remake. Back to the strategy. If you cannot tank dmg from the sorc then desynch a little and let them drain their mana. When you get the prefect chance charge them and smite em. Fireball sorcs: Same as above but they seem to cast a little faster so even if you can take a little punishment don't be a hero... Desynch them and get them when they least expect it.
Blizz sorcs: These are a little more difficult than the other 2 so don't expect it to be charge/smite all the time. First of all if you spent a point in Holy freeze you can use this to flash. Second of all DON'T chase them, instead wait for them to cast their blizzard and keep away from their ice bolts. After their blizzard wares off and they start to walk/run/tele try to get them before they can recast blizzard. Desynching them helps as well. Orb sorcs: These aren't as straight forward either. They tend to tele like crazy and spam frozen orbs so use holy freeze and desynch away from them a little. When they close enough to you charge them. If the knock back doesn't work then charge away and keep trying OR smite them and hope for the best. Paladins Charger: These = pointless because of your max block. Just walk and wait for them to charge you if they don't get a direct it just smite them to death. If they manage to hit you and you live then they aren't as good as they could be. smiter: Fun, fun, fun :>. If the duel is charge smite then you should win but then again if it's non-charge then you may lose to a smiter with 9x pcombs or better ias. foh: you res shouldn't drop past 60 in hell even with -150 res from conviction so this shouldn't be a problem. Charge/smite and you should win. zeal: LMAO @ this... if you lose to a zealot then either they are GFG or you REALLY need to remake this character... just walk/smite. Barbarians WW: These can be very hard since you only have 20k-30k def at best. A good way to win is flash holy freeze and use vigor to get in front of them. ALWAYS walk vs them and never charge. Both running and charging render your def and block useless and make you an easy target. These can be as difficult as hammerdins if they clip you. If and only If you need it you could always use exile but be prepared for the ridicule. Druids Windy druid: These are pretty fun to duel. The best way to kill them is to get your cursor over them to see their name as soon as you see their name charge/smite OR you can let them come to you, just be careful that they don't get the first hit or your 86% fhr won't help alot (flashing holy freeze helps slow them a little). Also you could use exile but it's bm. Rabies druid: These are the same as fury druids but they drain your life FAST. Use charge and smite to kill them quickly. If they run, charge them with holy freeze a couple times. Amazons
Bowa: These can be pretty easy. Make sure your always walking. use vigor and flash holy freeze when you get close enough. Just charge/smite and they should go down in 1-4 hits.CS zon: These are as fun as smite vs smite they can hurt but you should be able to take 4+ cs's. They should go down as fast as the bowa. FC zon: Toss on What ever sorbs/exile you want since FC is BM. Just charge/smite them and they should go down easy. Assassins
WW sin: These can be like the ww barb if built right. They have high psn damage so don't let the duel go on any longer than it has too. Walk/smite them and you should do ok. Also vigor and holy freeze are your friends ![]() Trapper: These can be harder than the WW sin because most use mind blast to keep you from getting close to them. Use holy freeze and charge around them until they start recasting traps then charge/smite them and make sure you don't get locked by their mind blast. WW/Trapper: This is the hardest sin subclass to use/duel against they have the strengths and weaknesses of both a ww sin and a trap sin, it's a lot harder to duel one of these. Use holy freeze and charge around them until they recast traps then charge in and INSTEAD of charge/smite your gonna use walk/smite to stop their WW from landing every time. When and only When they cast traps or are running charge them. Necromancers Summoners: Use exile since these are BM anyway. Smite away at a minion and slowly start to make your way to the necro. The life tap should keep you alive so don't worry about getting killed easily.
Boners: These can be hard if you let them hit you enough. Stay away from their stone golem if they use one. They will either use decrepify or amp so either way they will do A LOT of damage. Use holy freeze and charge them unless they spam spirits, then charge away from the spirits until they ware off. Then charge the necro and smite em. Also watch out for IBS since they are just like desynched hammers. Psn necros: These can drain life just as fast as rabies druids and at a decent Range. Just charge them with vigor or holy freeze and smite em, they should go down quick. Name-locking in 3 steps!! Step 1. Have fanat/vigor on right click and smite on left click. Move your
cursor over your opponents name and click and HOLD the right mouse button. Step 2. Move your mouse over your character WHILE holding the right click. Step 3. Switch to tele WHILE holding the right click. When you tele on top of them switch back to fanat and smite away. Any tips or short strategies anyone wants me to add should be posted in here and all credit for the strategy will go to the poster. Update #1: Adding Tele smiter to gear list next update. Added 3 step guide to Name-lock, and fixed grammar.
Kazzer smiter guide AGAIN! - FraterPerdurabo - 06-05-2007 You put virtually no effort into this. As a build, this would get a nice 8/10 (there are some things that I don't agree with), as a guide, this gets 2/10. No explanations, etc. You donĀ“t exactly help people understand the class. Kazzer smiter guide AGAIN! - kazzer - 06-06-2007 i guess i could add notes and reasons for items. it would save a lot of time and posts ![]() Kazzer smiter guide AGAIN! - FraterPerdurabo - 06-10-2007 Looking a lot better, great job. I'll have a thorough look through soon. Kazzer smiter guide AGAIN! - Espada - 06-10-2007 good job but arent there enough smiter guides around i mean come on look at the search result for smiter or anything under that category but then again one of the few worthy ones and worth stickying ![]() Kazzer smiter guide AGAIN! - kazzer - 06-27-2007 thx for the props :> i think i might try writing a guide for a char i've been messing w/ i'll let you guys know if the testing goes well ![]() Hint: involves tele bow and foh ;D Kazzer smiter guide AGAIN! - Seekndestroyer - 07-26-2007 Kazzer.. ima kill you for not throwing my glitch smiter in.. u arse.. Kazzer smiter guide AGAIN! - FraterPerdurabo - 07-31-2007 Sorry about the delay. Stuck. Kazzer smiter guide AGAIN! - kazzer - 08-17-2007 BUMP due to update and corrected grammar. Kazzer smiter guide AGAIN! - - Stu - - 09-03-2007 Summoners: Use exile since these are BM anyway. Smite away at a minion and slowly start to make your way to the necro. The life tap should keep you alive so don't worry about getting killed easily. dont attack the minions try and lock the player DO NOT go for minions any smart summoner will cast iron maiden so you kill your self before the minions, For sorc's unless they are Bmana its just a case of lock and chase, Easyier way to name lock have smite as f1 hotkey on left and charge as f2 click f2 it will change left click to charge then charge towards them try and get your cursor on them charge up get them in a kb fhr lock then press f1 and smite away, more pleasent way of going about locks Cast rate isnt slowed by Holy freeze, Stats:
27 str (smiter with Eni shouldnt require strenght)20 dex 483 vita 15 energy weapon: Grief Zerker armor: Enigma Dusk (Bad Choice, Btals is on all realms scnl, this build doesnt stand chance in SvS) Rings: raven, 20 str/15 dex tri-resi ring (Ravens or BK) ammy: maras ( shield: up'd Hoz jah (Exile isnt BM) helm: Berber coa gloves: bloodfist Uh No Use cleglaws. belt: bugbelt boots: Shadow dancers (Ah No! use Waterwalks Charms: see above. Kazzer smiter guide AGAIN! - kazzer - 09-09-2007 I agree with the btals but with the other equipment you might have made a slight mistake :\ Without a stat ring and enigma you need more strength to use ANY of your gear. Not to mention with the NL method i posted you can use the tele without any fcr at all :\. @ the Water walks comment. The reason for the shadowdancers is dex(block) Fhr (you hit 90% fhr with this build...) and already you should have 4.5k+ life. @ cleglaws... Try GM plz... @ "Exile is not bm" Yes it is... It casts life tap on hit 15% of the time. It has an aura. It freezes on hit. that makes that shield pretty BM. ;\ @ the str comment. With a lvl 90 character you only get an extra 67 strength from enigma so naturally you would need a few more str to use Coa(Fhr for 90%, Dr for Cap, Res for dueling sorcs...) @ "This build would not stand a chance in SvS" It does pretty well in SvS but to be honest... Smite vs Smite is very boring... If you want a smiter for smite vs smite look at another guide. :\ @ the holy freeze comment. Was actually thinking about slow fhr and block rate. Since most sorcs are max block these days. Although since these strategies ARE FOR PUB GAMES you could do without holyfreeze >.>... Quote:All your suggestions are valid but this guide wasn't made with them in mind. EDIT: Can you tele with that way of NLing? I doubt it can be done that easy :\ Not to mention the fact that you will probably freeze if you change skills to smite too quickly. I'd rather just continuously charge them, then switch to smite when they try to melee you ;> |
