Request Close Button - Z3R0 - 08-10-2007 Can we like, have a button that we click that will send a message to a mod requesting useless threads closed? It might be a lot more efficiant than leaving ~request close at the end of a post and hoping a mod catches it and sees the relevance in the request. Request Close Button - ren3g4de - 08-10-2007 i would have to second this motion.....would be especially helpful for when you want to close your own thread when it gets out of control..... possibly also allow the original poster of the thread to close his or her own thread? Hah! Not in the flame room though... Request Close Button - fleaflickerx - 08-10-2007 If it was in the flame room Tap and I would have fuller in boxes then pam.... Request Close Button - FraterPerdurabo - 08-10-2007 I know that most of you guys seem to have the contrary opinion, but we do not live in a dictatorship. If someone has something to say, they are more than welcome to post it here, and it is for that very reason that I oppose closing threads. The only time I ever close threads is in Character Development when someone asks a question, it gets replied, and like 3 months later some idiot comes and spams some random and often wrong bullshit in that thread. Those posts I delete and close the thread, since it's only use is now to serve as reference. However... For threads in Small Tank etc... Those should never be closed, maybe OT should be moved to another thread, but threads themselves should never get closed, no matter how spammy or anything they get. Request Close Button - Pamela - 08-10-2007 The problem I forsee in this is that requesting it closed can be done by anyone. Your reason fo wanting it closed would be your opinion only and another may want it open. A reported post actually serves the same function,a Mod will go look and make a decision. All you have to do in your report is specify "Thread needs closing" A Mod is smart enough to figure out you are not seeking an infraction against a member. Request Close Button - Ragnarhox - 08-10-2007 i don't like the idea...It would allow people t post to get the last word in then spam the button for a mod to close his/her thread. Could be useful in the d2 and trading sections but is stupid for small talk/spam or flame wars. Request Close Button - hit.it - 08-10-2007 well it would be usefull if only the thread starter could close it and not some random poster Request Close Button - Mushroomhead18nc - 08-10-2007 yeah i think a close thread would be good if you are the one who created the thread cause sometimes people will like double post something or post something then have an answer in another thread. so instead of asking mods to close it they could just do it themselves. i think its a good idea Request Close Button - Z3R0 - 08-10-2007 Considering that the poster is posting a pointless thread to begin with, like the 6 differant threads about the recent infraction issue, then having the option where only the original thread creator can close is useless. Request Close Button - SilverTears - 08-10-2007 This is what the report button is for. Request Close Button - Tap - 08-10-2007 Um, heres an idea Pm a mod? Request Close Button - Lux Aeterna - 08-10-2007 Tap Wrote:Um, heres an idea And a good one at that. Or you could always stfu and stop back-seat modding, tykthnx. Request Close Button - Tap - 08-10-2007 `Echo Wrote:And a good one at that. You werent referring to me where you lol? Request Close Button - Lux Aeterna - 08-10-2007 I was referring to the thread starter. Request Close Button - Z3R0 - 08-11-2007 Tap Wrote:Um, heres an idea Already have to listen to them bitch about acctually GETTING the pm's as it is, thanks anyway though. `Echo Wrote:And a good one at that. It's not back seat modding, I've never recieved a warning for saying, "hey, this thread has no relevance at all, people are posting way off topic, spam fest, !close please" So you could always stfu and try to add some sort of constructive contribution to the thread, or leave. [sarcasm]"tykthx"[/sarcasm] Request Close Button - FraterPerdurabo - 08-11-2007 Z3R0K00l Wrote:Already have to listen to them bitch about acctually GETTING the pm's as it is, thanks anyway though.Constructive contribution? What do you ever do besides bitching and spamming? Scroll up 1 post for proof. Request Close Button - Pamela - 08-11-2007 ZK~sighs~ You start most of the spam threads here, honestly you do.This is how it works...only a Mod can close a thread in their assigned section. Why is this you may ask? It is simple, they have knowledge of the area assigned to them. Therefore,it is their responsibility to tend to THAT section. Now...when a Mod notices questionable goings on outside...OUTSIDE,of their area ,THEN they contact a Supermoderator for help, because SMod can function in any section. Which is why I pushed so hard for Frater to be SMod,he has expertise in many areas and it got a little tiresome with him and Taters(whatever) always having to PM me for help, and there really needed to be an SMod more active in those areas. A close thread button would only turn into another Rep/ -Rep frenzie. Some spammy threads in absolutely the wrong area just need to be moved. Most retarded threads just die a natural death ,BECAUSE they are retarded, and many won't bother to post in them anymore. Most of yours even worth looking at I scan, and decide to even enter the discussion or not.You have some great ones and some loser ones...we ALL have, but it is a Mods responsibility to make that decision, this is why you PM the appropriate Mod. If you notice something,by all means PM with the reasoning behind the request. I personally think a button is not neccessary, just my opinion. |
