rate my new pc - skidude - 10-15-2007 ok i want u guys to rate my new pc i am building now. still waiting on some stuff and yes i know i am out of my mind. this will be my new gaming pc. it should run any game on any setting and then some ASUS L1N64-SLI WS Dual L (1207FX) NVIDIA nForce 680a SLI MCP SSI CEB AMD Motherboard 2 AMD Athlon 64 FX-74 Windsor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket F (1207 FX) DSDC Architecture Processor's Thermaltake Toughpower 850W 4gbs of Corsair DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Timing 5-5-5-12 2x gtx8800 768mb 384bit viedo card ( new mother board supports 4 video cards lol) 4x 80gb seagate SATA 3.0Gb/s harddrives with a raid5 setup and 2x 250gb's SATA 3.0Gb/s harddrives Thermaltake black full tower aluminum case with 3 120mm fans creative sound blaster x-fi extreme gamer Medusa 5.1 ProGamer headset razer 1600dpi mouse 10meg cable net rate my new pc - The Mob - 10-15-2007 i guess it is ok if you have an unlimited budget. there are a couple of things that i would do differently, but thats just price wise. on a side note, they need to change the form factor of atx mobo to like extended. there is simply not enough room anymore. cooling might be an issue with yours.. have 2 processors running side by side. rate my new pc - skidude - 10-15-2007 what would u change? and yes i know i may end up having to water cool the cpu's and video cards
here is the mobo layout. and yes it has 12 sata ports for 12 hard drives lol ![]() rate my new pc - Dan - 10-15-2007 complete overkill. Anyone can go on newegg and pick the most expensive stuff to build a computer with, I'd never go with anything like that, even if i did have the cash to blow. I'd buy myself a better car. rate my new pc - skidude - 10-16-2007 Dan Wrote:complete overkill. Anyone can go on newegg and pick the most expensive stuff to build a computer with, I'd never go with anything like that, even if i did have the cash to blow. I'd buy myself a better car. first off since u don't know wtf u are talking about that is far from the most expensive and 2nd u would never have the money to buy nice stuff thats why u would never go with it. thats not really that much of a overkill i could be getting 2 quad core cpu's or hell even some of the core2 crap is more then this and if u wanted the best of the best i would have 12x 15k rpm harddrives and have the system fully water cooled. plus i would have 8gb of ram rate my new pc - chris78 - 10-16-2007 Hope this is not just for blizzard games.. ![]() rate my new pc - BrioCloud - 10-16-2007 Now who rated it one. -_- That thing is a 9. It's just perfect is not possible. Godly computer lol. rate my new pc - Dan - 10-16-2007 skidude Wrote:first off since u don't know wtf u are talking about that is far from the most expensive and 2nd u would never have the money to buy nice stuff thats why u would never go with it. thats not really that much of a overkill i could be getting 2 quad core cpu's or hell even some of the core2 crap is more then this Ok let me justify my score of 1, the way I see it, it is a kickass system. BUT unless you are getting it as a gift, getting it at a student discount, free, or w/e, i think it is a waste of money. Also, I have over $67,000 saved up for college, so don't say that I don't have money. All of that money I have earned myself, my dad bought me my first car when I was 15, $1,250, and I have already paid him back. I gave it a 1 because I wouldn't BUY something like that, I don't think it is cost effective. You can spend half as much and still run every game. Hell my computer is almost 3 years old and it can run every new game, newer ones not on highest detail, but I'm happy with it. I received it as a gift/left to me in a will, so I got a $5000 computer free. Also, that is one thing I was wondering, why not shell out the extra $80 if your spending that much to upgrade your 80gb's to raptors or something? Actually, on second look, that isnt really that bad of a price. I still have peices from a few months ago set in my head, and it is alot more cost effective then i first thought. I change my score to a 7. Even though i'm mod for this section, idk if i can edit the poll lol, and if i can i dont know how. rate my new pc - FraterPerdurabo - 10-16-2007 6/10 rate my new pc - BewarethePhoenix - 10-16-2007 8/10 Stas are sexy but thats a 'lil more high dollar than I would wanna do. Aside from that its GG. Nice work. rate my new pc - skidude - 10-16-2007 chris78 Wrote:Hope this is not just for blizzard games..i never play blizzard games now :p dan i changed your vote and i was thinking about doing that sometime but not now i am getting the stuff to water cool my cpu's now too :p so i can over clock it better. and i may have to get another power supply to run it all even tho i have a 850watt now. i may get a 1200watt psu to go with it before this pc is done it will be fully water cooled running at the max stable over clock for the pc. im not 100% sure but i think i can get 4ghz easy off each cpu but i will have to bump up the volts yea yea call me a dumbass with money smartass2 rate my new pc - Obfuscate - 10-16-2007 I really don't think you "need" 2 74's but it will certainly hold you over for a couple of years if not longer considering the number of none industrial application that can take advantage of dual proc's is growing. On another note I think you are shorting yourself by not getting a true high end PSU, such as a PC Power & Cooling, one. Not to say Thermaltake isn't a great PSU company just saying that the gold standard is PC P&C and not getting one seems silly given the other components. I do like the fact you are going to set up a RAID 5 with the (4) 80gb drives but I question the lack of dedicated RAID card considering the rest of the setup, even if RAID is supported by the mobo. Since having a dedicated RAID card will greatly increase the performance of the drives. But RAID cards are rather expense so I can understand not wanting to spend the money on them. All in all its a good future proofing system that will last a good couple years. rate my new pc - BrioCloud - 10-16-2007 It says "rate my new pc" no rate my new pc based on money. In that case the millitary's plane must be rated a 1. They cost 40 million dollars for one. How much did it cost btw? I read everywhere. My guess 6k. The F15 isnt 40mil, its alot less, plus it is over 30 years old, and it has a perfect combat record, not one loss. Well worth the money, unless you want to fly MIGs and have our pilots drop like gnats. Dan rate my new pc - The Mob - 10-16-2007 your computer is the equivalent of a small server.. with that processing power, you should do rendering with it. i would just wait until new stuff comes out or for the prices to drop. heh with the kind of voltage your going to need.. you might need to have 2 psu's rate my new pc - skidude - 10-17-2007 The Mob Wrote:your computer is the equivalent of a small server.. my pc will beat any game server that's out for rent besides a dedicated servers cause they run dual quad core cpus most of the time and they also have 2000gb of bandwidth. and as far as voltage goes i will find out if i need another psu when it all cames in by the end of the week. price go find out yourself. just keep in mind i got alot of this when it was new like my gtx 8800s rate my new pc - BrioCloud - 10-17-2007 Dan Wrote:Actually, on second look, that isnt really that bad of a price. I still have peices from a few months ago set in my head, and it is alot more cost effective then i first thought. I change my score to a 7. Oh ohkay. I didn't know how Dan came to the conclusion of the price and said it wasn't that bad of a deal after all. Theres different prices for things on sale, online, in stores etc. I'll just look for myself. rate my new pc - Dan - 10-17-2007 plus like he said, some of the stuff he already has from his previous computer. rate my new pc - slashbomb - 10-18-2007 I would swap the 2 GTX graphic cards for 1 8800ultra to save some cash (if you want) Also for your CPU, if u wanted to, you can keep it but a Intel Core 2 Extreme processor (Quad-Core) is also a good choice. Then you would have to find a new motherboard. I like your 2 CPU setup so I would keep it since you already found a good motherboard. rate my new pc - skidude - 10-18-2007 i already have my cards. and the rest of the stuff is being shipped out as we speak ( ups overnight airdevilish
![]() ![]() when it is all done i may take pic's and post them. but i will post my stats rate my new pc - Dan - 10-19-2007 show me the FPS on FEAR combat maxed out, wanna compare them to my 3 year old beast ![]() |
