I'm suprised this hasnt happened. I found one named wazz. Which im dam sure i created after i got a temp ban like 4 years ago. Go ahead, delete it. Make the user population current.

<---Not an Admin hun.

Can only do so much.

the removal of static newcomers - Mathalamus - 06-17-2009

why delete members? they may come back.

the removal of static newcomers - Frai7ty - 06-17-2009

If they come back, they could just remake there accounts. Also, how many users do we have? How many are even remotely active?

the removal of static newcomers - Nethran - 06-17-2009

Clean out all of them with under 15 posts that have been inactive for at least 6 months, I say. Big Grin But then we'd lose a couple few thousand registered users. Sad

the removal of static newcomers - Blue - 06-17-2009

About 30 active. We probably had as many as 250 different active users.

the removal of static newcomers - The Mob - 06-18-2009

the problem with that is if they had posted something.. if you delete the user, will that delete the post as well? that could mess things up.
most people just post one thing, it doesnt get answered, and dont bother to ask again or search for the answer

the removal of static newcomers - Frai7ty - 06-18-2009

Oh that's true, I had not thought of that.

the removal of static newcomers - Blue - 06-18-2009

No it won't, because Spit use to delete members before.

They just dont have a sig anymore and their statistic things by each post are wiped out, along with the name just looking like plain text.

Well there we go, in this case I believe that deleting accounts that are inactive, and with few posts is a good idea.

the removal of static newcomers - Pamela - 06-19-2009

The problem with deleting accounts is not only that they may post very little, but they download from the site and lurk.

Neither Spit nor I like to delete posts or accounts. Most just need to be left alone.
If it is not a member breaking the rules, being rude/obnoxious and vulgar, then leave it alone.
We have a program in place that detects multiple accounts, old accounts just need to be left alone.

The only 2 people on the site that can delete an account are Spit and Skye,BECAUSE it can only be done from the Admin panel.

I am NOT an Admin yall...

the removal of static newcomers - wazzacky - 06-20-2009

maybe spit or skye, spaeking of which, haven't heard of in how long (3monthes? maybe more?). With sc2 and d3 coming out there will be more active users and its godamn annoying to find memember when u have to filter through non-active new comers in the search panel

the removal of static newcomers - Blue - 06-20-2009

Pam, nobody asked you to delete anything, but yet you told us twice that you couldn't due to not being an admin... Is that PamSpam or do you really want to be an admin.

the removal of static newcomers - Nethran - 06-20-2009

Ahh, so Blue noticed it too. >.> And where are Spit and Skye?

Active, what's that?Big Grin

To be honest, it's a fine endeavor but probably more trouble than it's worth. Spit probably has more than enough space that it doesn't matter.

I always thought an Admin had a log of the activity of each member that they could look at. If so, the ones that were completely inactive could be deleted.

Anyways, I'm sure if it was a problem then Spit would have deleted the accounts already. As far as name issues with accounts, that is probably a case by case basis.

the removal of static newcomers - The Mob - 06-21-2009

lets just say skye and spit are busy Wink
and yes, deleting inactive users wont really do anything.. how would it actually benefit anyone? its not like they post anyways

the removal of static newcomers - Mathalamus - 06-22-2009

i would benifit someone who wants the name.

the removal of static newcomers - Nethran - 06-22-2009

hey, what Math said is actually true... almosy 30k names are taken. The possibility that a newcomer has to put random numbers after the name he wants because it's taken is fairly large. Personally, I hate numbers. Makes it look less creative and original. I'm sure hellsing293 would rather be hellsing, for example.

After checking, "hellsing" is not taken... so nevermind. xD

the removal of static newcomers - wazzacky - 06-22-2009

i've been down that path. When i palyed runescape *cough* grade 4 *cough* i was utterly shocked to find that wazzacky had already been taken. I thought it was an extremely unique name. So i had wazzackyy (my old WoW account) wazzacky66 wazzacky666 wazzacky_devil etc. etc.

the removal of static newcomers - Nethran - 06-22-2009

Don't look up Wazzack on Urban Dictionary. >.>;
