alrite so i have been working out - wazzacky - 07-14-2009 Im not convinced im working out my body hard enough. many of my muscles don't get sore the next morning. For instance i was doing chest biceps and triceps yesterday and only my biceps are sore. Yesterday i did 3 sets of bench press, 3 sets of vertical bench press, and 1 set of heavy weight pec deck to finish it off. I did 3 sets of concentration curls and 3 sets of hammer curls. and 3 sets of tricep extension. Is that enough? alrite so i have been working out - Nethran - 07-14-2009 Sets don't matter if you're not challenging your muscles. How far from your max are you doing each rep, and how many reps per set? Also, I'm a fan of dividing the workout in muscle groups, but I'm not so much a fan of doing 3 things that work the same muscle. You have 3 tricep workouts on the same day. Vertical bench I'm guessing is Shoulder Press, so I see each one works something other than tricep, also. Pecks, deltoid, and, to some extent, lats. The problem I see is that you won't get the full workout you're capable of for the secondary muscle group if your triceps are tired from bench and you move to shoulder press, then tricep extentions(dips?). I'd save one for a different day. I don't know if a personal trainer would agree with me, but it makes sense to me that way. alrite so i have been working out - wazzacky - 07-14-2009 my cousin is a personal trainer and a damn good one!. I nevger thought of that neth. But yea your right. It really depends on what order i do my excercise. Today i was doing the back and shoulders. I started my back with vertical row 45lbs on each arm. Than i did some traps and shoulders than went to lat pull down. I could only do 5 reps!. I had to wait 5 mintues before i could completele a full set. As for reps per set i have been doing 12, but i changed today to 10 at higher weight. and as for challenging...first set last rep is hard, 2nd set last rep is extremely hard, 3rd set last rep requires me to pause for like 3 seconds....and by this i mean free weight bench press. Im doing 110lbs when i have a spotter and 90lbs when i don't. When its 110 my 3rd set is extremely hard and i need help getting 12 done.....AND also vertical benchpress does work out the deltoids but not like shoulder press. Its called vertical because your sitting vertically and pushing the weight away from you. alrite so i have been working out - Pamela - 07-14-2009 Why are guys so obsessed with bodies?Especially their own? alrite so i have been working out - The Mob - 07-14-2009 to impress the ladies of course! and bragging rights alrite so i have been working out - Ares - 07-14-2009 Dont do shoulders and Back the same day, bad mix. You cant technically "stop" Your body will tell you to stop you'll want to stop, your muscles will ache but you dont have to stop. Just push... and push, Kind of hard to explain its something you'll encounter when you work out more often. Challenge yourself a bit. and Pam I became obsessed with lifting weights as soon as I saw improvement, since then I've been working at it every day. Im damn proud of my body too ![]() alrite so i have been working out - Pamela - 07-14-2009 Fair enough! One of the keys to working out is also what you eat...it goes hand in hand hun. Depends on if you want bulk or lean muscle.Do you do any cardio? alrite so i have been working out - wazzacky - 07-15-2009 i run everyday! Oh and i weighed myself today in the morning before breakfest. I've gained 4lbs!. Ares Wrote:Dont do shoulders and Back the same day, bad mix. Ok and if shoulders and back is a no go. Can u recomend what i should do throughout the weak. Today I was going to do legs but yesterday i wanted to test my leg press strength and i maxed out that machine at 400lbs. I just started walking man and i think i must have ripped my left quad a bit too much cuz oh it hurts. Oh and to let u know, my left shoulder has problems with the rotator cuff so a big goal of my working out thing is to strengthen it from more damage. Same with my left hip oh! i just found this online routine and would like to see if it is balanced. http://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/dougs-4-day-split-workout.html It seems fine to me. My only change will be to do abs and obs every day. but i do have a question. With the 4 sets going at 12 reps than 10 than 8 than 6. Do i increase the weight every set? alrite so i have been working out - xDBD - 07-15-2009 Pamela Wrote:Why are guys so obsessed with bodies?Especially their own? uhh, being lazy and out of shape is lame? I don't see how getting in shape is being "so obsessed with their own body." it's not being obsessive at all, it's simply taking care of yourself. fitness is a huge part of being healthy. if being "obsessed," with being healthy is a bad thing go ahead and spank me mama. alrite so i have been working out - wazzacky - 07-15-2009 hah. I honoustly never got why people gave me funny looks at school when i told them i run outside of school for the cardio. alrite so i have been working out - Ares - 07-15-2009 wazzacky Wrote:hah. I honoustly never got why people gave me funny looks at school when i told them i run outside of school for the cardio. **** them, they're losers. Start small, break your muscles in if this is your first workout session dont rip a muscle now.... Find out your limitations and see what you can do and go from there ![]() alrite so i have been working out - wazzacky - 07-16-2009 ares did u checkj out the workout routine? (scroll up). It's made me realise i haven't been pushing my self at all. My biceps feel awesome. My chest, unfortunatly, didn't have the same next day results....which is odd cause i was absolutly exchausted at the end. Today i did tri's and shoulders and feel great. I bumped up my tricep pull down with the rope by 20lbs. alrite so i have been working out - Ares - 07-16-2009 I would suggest getting a labor job ![]() Go work at some store stocking up boxes, roofing, construction, yard work, etc. You get paid money for working out basically ![]() Put abs in with Back. back doesnt need a whole day to itself ![]() and in my book there is no such thing as a rest day, get off your ass and target some muscles you haven't been using, or run. Running is the key to everything. It'll make you feel amazing, keep your heart HEALTHY. alrite so i have been working out - wazzacky - 07-17-2009 yesterday i ran for 8 minutes at 8.5 miles an hour (pff our treadmills don't use metric). I run ever day, bumping it up by a minute every week. And like i said, i do abs and obs every day. Although i've never gotten the technique down for doing obliques right:S alrite so i have been working out - Ares - 07-17-2009 Good job man ![]() just a little heads up the moment you stop working out your going to start losing all of your progress unless you keep your muscles busy,. alrite so i have been working out - wazzacky - 07-17-2009 well once i grad . im probably gona be joining airforce so whats that 12 weeks of basic training? that should work ![]() |
