Don't mind them - some peeps just have brand loyalty. Wink

I don't normally use a Mac myself, but I know they are pretty sweet when it comes to the multimedia aspect, from first-hand experience.

Anyways, at least it looks like you aren't the only one in your situation.

matthewjp Wrote:All,

We've received a handful of reports from users with the newest (2-26-08) revision of the MacBook Pros and an inability to start up Diablo 2 and StarCraft.

The StarCraft Startup Options and the Diablo 2 Options screens will appear, but after pressing Ok, the games close and do not load.

Currently, we are still investigating this issue and I'll provide updates here once more information is received. Until then, please use this thread to report your system information if you are experiencing this issue.

Please post the following information from your System Profile (Go > Utilities > System Profiler):

Hardware (remove the Serial Number line)
Graphics/Displays
Software (remove the Computer Name and User Name lines)

Thanks!

Update!

We are currently in discussion with Apple about this issue and hope to have a resolution soon. Currently, the only work around is to install Windows on a separate partition and run StarCraft or Diablo 2 through Windows.

I know I saw some things online about using native installers (Play StarCraft and Diablo II on your Mac | MacApper), but it might not work on the latest Macbooks. For the time being, I guess you'll just have to hold on (you can submit your report to that thread on Battle.net if you want); maybe this is one of the things they are looking into for 1.13. Good luck.

The 1# reason I still use Windows. Honestly, for your sake, just install 2 operating systems on your computer. Unless you love troubleshooting, you don't want to get into this, it just isent pretty. You may get Diablo 2 to work with jedi's method, but then the next program wont work, and the next one, and the next one, and so on. When stuff works on non-windows platforms, it usually works well, but when it doesn't, you'll be crying.

There is quite a bit of compatability software out there, but I havent heard good stories about it, but who knows, you may have better luck than my friends and myself.

I've met people who just use mac or just use linux, and I have no idea how they get by, I use Linux for my server, but I could'nt live without Windows on my desktop.

i use a macbook pro, and d2 runs fine (note, i dont have the unibody one)
you just have to download it from battle.net and use the app. it will install fine.

but on the other hand, that game seriously stresses your system. i get like 80 C while running the game. so i had to switch back to my xp desktop
