Question about Uber Smiters - Blue - 08-17-2009
This question is for those that have experimented with uber smiters.
Specifically, the helm of a smiter. A Coa.
I have a 2os Coa, socketed with bers. The runes mean nothing to me, I could care less if I lost them.
I'm just wondering, would I be better off to use a 15 IAS / 15 All Res jewel, or keep using the bers. (I'm using LW, so I don't have the IAS from grief).

anyhow, i think faster ias is better. (see if you can make the breakpoint)
faster you can kill meph, the better.
however, dmg reduction is also good, but if you dont die at all, i wouldnt worry about that.
oh and forget about the resis all, the fade cast by lw is good enough

Well, I already did this. I put 15/15 jewels and all the bosses die tons faster.

And I never really die anyways, if I do, its always stupid shit. Like iron maiden. Or trying to get a crowded torch without killing any minions.

do you use CoH when you do the actual ubers?
do you find that that works better than nigma?
cause i can sometimes do ubers fine.. other times i die like 5 times. lol

I can do minis just fine with enigma, so I use that. But when I do trist, I always use coh. Always.

the minis arent a problem. only lilth is a tiny bit of an issue. i have to isolate her

Yeah, I like highlords even though it misses out of a possible 30 res on everything but lite, and a skill for the IAS. Also, you might as well try to craft some gloves. While laying of hands is just fine, for those people that want the best possible, it doesn't have any other mods. Like CB, str, life, or anything.

However, the glove recipe I used is this.
Blood Gloves:
Magic heavy/sharkskin/vampire bone gloves. Nef rune. P Ruby. Nef Rune.
The properties will be given as follows
5-10% CB
1-3% LL
+10-20 Life
Also, based on the ilvl of the crafted item, you can randomly get four added affixes.
At ilvls 1-30, there's a 40% chance of 1 affix and a 20% chance each of 2, 3 or 4 affixes.
At ilvls 31-50, there's a 60% chance of 2 affixes and a 20% chance each of 3 or 4 affixes.
At ilvls 51-70, there's an 80% chance of 3 affixes and a 20% chance of 4 affixes.
At ilvls 71+, there's a 100% chance of 4 affixes.
The glove type does not matter at all, but it would be better to use sharkskin or vampire bone gloves, for the def. Also, crafting depends on the ilvl of the gloves and your character level. So I gamble with a 90+ giving me a guarenteed ilvl 90 gloves and I'm already a lvl 90. (well for me its 95). Also, the ilvl, quality, and properties of the jewel dont mean shit. So I usually use my non perf facets, and all the other junk jewels my bot likes to pick to make gloves.
One last thing, although this is fairly obvious if you dont already know. Don't use any other gloves below 20% IAS. It may take a while to hit that. And I would keep crafting even after you hit a 20 IAS set, just so you can try to get some other mods, and maybe even improved mods that are already on it. It took me like 20-40 crafts to hit the gloves I'm wearing. They're pretty GG, with IAS, CB, STR, and Life.
