He talkin about if there is damage taken goto mana ability works on hireling. I dont know cause none of my stuff on my hireling has that.

they do not use mana so if that ability works would be like damage reduced
I have tested this possibility and confirmed that it does NOT work.
I took a four-socket armor and loaded it with four ith runes, and then found a boss that my merc was unable to do much damage to. He stood there and fought and fought and got beat up quickly. I observed the average damage each time the boss hit him -- about 200. And he survived about fifteen seconds. I repeated this three times. Then I removed the armor and repeated the test three times, and the average damage per hit from the boss remained about 200, and he still survived about fifteen seconds.
So the "percent of damage goes to mana" does not work at all, or does not well enough (at 60% from four ith runes) to make a noticeable difference in merc survival rate. Probably mercs simply have no mana at all (and are not charge mana to cast a spell).
